That's a matter of taste! Personally, I like BK more.
But the higher the better. KT is spectacular. I hope many more will follow somewhere on this planet!

When I saw the first renders of Burj Khalifa, I assumed it was some vision for the 21st./22nd century.
But 3 years later I discoverered at was already at 200 metres...
There are photos of a hole in the ground in Chicago, too! But this one is well on it's way, I think. No money worries here...

Random question: When this building is done and this thread is put in DN Archives, do you guys think it will have more posts than the 1WTC thread?

It's tough to predict the future, but I would say no. If you compare the Burj Khalifa thread to the 1WTC thread, the 1WTC thread blew it away with 56,853(currently) posts for 1WTC compared to 31,805 for the Burj Khalifa. They both were open for about the same amount of time, give or take a few months. This thread does have a pretty good start though, but its going to be tough to pass 56k posts.

Yes.
Probably, 1WTC was more in the picture; because it is in busy NYC, and due to the sad history of WTC.

That BK was constructed at about the same time and would immediately become the highest building ever, was not so well-known then.
Now it's been completed for a few years, more people know that "there is a very high building somewhere in the Middle East".

I assume KT is also mainly known by people like there are on this forum.

Keep in mind that the BK thread had, from the start, I believe something on the order of 26 unique threads before it was all merged or brought into a final super thread. I would imagine it's one of the only towers along with 1WTC that would break the original thread post limits. But I'd imagine by the end, KT will be pretty visited as well.

1WTC it´s in a middle of the main know city on the world, surrounded by numerous buildings, people with high economic power and within the view of a population of more than 20M. So it will be hard to overpass that thread. And of course the events which unfortunately went there, gives more information and news thorough the world.

the main reason is that this is an english language forum mainly and new york is the biggest city in the engish speaking world. but it doesn't matter anyway, this thread will have good updates and that is all that matters, if the thread will be flooded or not we will see when this tower starts to get real tall

Fortunately, we now see a lot of forum members from Saudi Arabia, who write fluent English.
To-the-point updates of KT are thus guaranteed.
