Awesome picture! It finally gives a real sense of how close it is to the ocean. Those people that have their properties right on the water, are about to have their property values increased a few times over, and they are probably already several million dollar lots

That's like asking why wasn't the area around the Burj Khalifa developed before the BK was actually built.

It'is is al lot handier to build a tower like this in a surrouding where there is a lot of space for workers, building materials and all. It reduces the total costs of the building by a lot.
In bigger developed areas like New York a large amount of the building cost goes into logistics for the building materials. So it does seem al logical choice to start building something like this in a deserted area and develop the rest later on like they are doing.

Look at Downtown Burj Khalifa, they hardly built anything while the Burj was in early stages of construction, and only a handful of things along the way. They are STILL building surrounding towers. It's a long term project.

Hardly anything? Sorry but this is just incorrect. There was quite a number of residential towers under construction, the 'old town' district, the whole lake (completed in phases), and above all the largest mall in the world.
You are right about it being a long-term project, but it could be much closer to completion already if the crisis didn't hit Dubai so hard.

Are all three wings the same length? It appears the left wing in this picture is a bit longer then the right. https://pbs.twimg.com/media/B8iZyAwCUAIPveX.jpg:large

Your level markings are wrong.
We already discussed, that yellow form works ARE NOT for each floor.
One level = 2 form works levels.

Currently it's on LEVEL-7(floor#10), and NOT Level-12(floor#15).
Why all of you, "level marking people", trying to look smart, while knowing a sh.t about construction?? Huh?

Thanks. That's a really awesome fact to know.
And again: absolutely astonishing that this is possible in the desert
