I cant help, but feel a sense of De-javu watching this thing rise.. Feels like watching the Burj rise again. Pretty much the same dimensions, or so it seems..

A simpler question: is any other part of the master plan under construction, or does it all await completion of the Kingdom Tower?

Hi Wolfgang!
Currently there are 3 Typ 280 HC-L 16/28 installed.
They will build the 3 wings up to about 400m hight.
The other one 357 HC-L 18/32 comes later and will reach till the spire in about 1000m.

You can read it on their website/press release:

http://www.liebherr.com/en/deu/lates...di-arabia.html

Beste Grüße
Chris

Kingdom Tower and Kingdom City will raise together. Currently there's no activity except Kingdom Tower itself.
But they don't wait till it's finished, it's similar to the Burj Khalifa project.

The above roughly translates to (from Google):

"Civil grandmother" visit to the Kingdom Tower North Bibhr

"Abdullah Alrajeha- Sbak- Jeddah: A team from the Directorate General of Civil Defense in Jeddah visit to the Kingdom Tower project Bibhr North, to get to know the safety requirements and the mechanism of the project.

The team included a number of officials, officers in the areas of operations and safety and civil protection, led by the Director of Civil Jeddah Brigadier Salim bin Marzouk Mautrofi and were met by the project manager and a number of specialists in the field of safety.

The team toured the project, where they were introduced to the mechanism of action at the site for the near as well as the means and safety requirements in such projects, also held a joint meeting in which all the points that belong to the public safety was discussed and the safety of workers at the site, and activation of communication and coordination channels and follow-up to confirm full compliance controls and safety measures that would maintain the integrity of the site and the safety of workers and ward off any potential risks.

In the end, the project manager thanked civil defense delegation on this important visit to the definition of objects of safety requirements."

-----

Unfortunately nothing new as far as us SSC lovers would say for facts or figures, but for a brief article, it's good to hear that proper safety checks are being made, as is standard on any project.

Core's looking great!

You could be right. Liebherr said the 357 HC-L 18/32 will placed in the central of the building. Looking at the pictures it seems to be ideed the TC1.
But i'm also not 100% sure...
You could write on mail to liebherr i'm sure they will answer this question

While Liebherr 357HC-L has rectangular cross-section of boom, the Liebherr 280HC-L has triangular one. Thus, I'm sure that 357HC-L has already installed in central core.

What about two Wolff 355B cranes? Why they are dismantled?
Will be these cranes installed again at construction site?
If yes, then where ?

I was also wondering about this. Haven't found any information not even on their website...strange...so let's speculate...
i think the wolffcrans will installed again because it makes not much sense to carry 3 of them to jeddah for only a few weeks to work. Perhaps the building had to reach a certain hight or construction status bevore they will reactivated.
