I am surprised we do not see more work being done to start putting in floors so they can do other things. If one thinks about all of the plumbing, electrical, and HVAC this tower needs, it would seem floors to work on would be going in by now.

Firstly thank you very much for your most useful and informative post Markus F. Also thanks a bonus for the effort, I can tell that you spent a lot of time deciphering that information!
Welcome to the forum!

I believe I can answer one of your questions:

According to Google:
"MEP is an acronym that has been used historically to describe the mechanical, electrical, and plumbing systems in building and industrial projects."

So an MEP floor is a plant/mechanical floor used to store equipment for maintaining the building during its lifecycle. Hope this helps!

Thanks a lot KSA! great pics! It seems just you and our friend alsaif only sources for real close range photo (except the webcam) If this tower was somewhere in Shanghai or Tokyo i think we could see much more photo when there are 30 millions peoples around, but its only desert for a while... So its quite rare and thanks one more time!

I imagine the shorter tower cranes will bring materials up to their height so that the cranes at the top of the building don't have to reach all the way to the ground. Having a crane pull something up from 1000m down would be pretty much impossible.

About 15 minutes ago. September 1st.

Does the 010 on the yellow formwork on the far right at the top indicate floor 10, in their numbering scheme?

EDIT: I just noticed KSA's picture above, and the numbers do seem to refer to the floors underneath.

How many cement plants must be needed to provide concrete for this massive tower.

I wonder what type of reinforcements had to be done to the ground in order to resist such a structure.

Last night i was going home and i wasn't close by like i was around 5-8 kilometers away from the tower area and i can see it very clearly even through the buildings and the trees, and I remember last month I could see nothing but now no one can ignore the fact that we are going to have the tallest building worldwide which is amazing to happen to your hometown

Could you take a photo next time, even if you cannot see much it would be cool to see how it is visible already from further away
