Thanks for the pics; but still it's on floors 21/12, and the cranes all look idle!

The top right corner would be a great place for an enormous plalmtree park with maybe a golf course and an amphitheater.

Very unique and has a warm feeling to it! It is modern but yet feels authentic and classic. I just hope these towers will have sky pools on the top ... the view will be just breathtaking of the Kingdom Tower!

Sun setting on oil...

Saudi Arabia, with a 20% deficit, running for years, is in big trouble. That was even before the price of oil got cut by half. And it will stay down, with Iranian production looming. Drastic cuts have been required by the king. I guess no more kilometer high tower? (It was under construction along the Red Sea, but that seems to have stopped.)

The superiority of the USA, not just its allies, rested on oil, cheap oil. Now oil is getting ever cheaper as new energy sources appear, and compete, while technology efficiency is making ever greater strides. And the trend will only accelerate: it's a matter of saving the planet from fossil fuels.

Both France and the USA are starting to make solar roads (the pavement is made of solar PV glass engineered to be sufficiently adherent). The French version makes enough electricity for a city of 5,000, in just ONE kilometer. Meanwhile the storage capacity per mass of Lithium-Ion batteries doubled in twenty years.

As the sun sets over oil, political and economic power will change drastically. Those cranes may have stopped for ever.

Although new energy sources are starting to appear I doubt the world will shift that fast to them .. and I really doubt the oil price will stay down forever and IF this tower went on hold, I think it is a too big of a project to be stopped forever. It will restart when SA economy is better. Anyways I smell a global crisis similar to the 2008 closing up on us and in my opinion countries who's economy are based on oil will be affected the most, which means all gulf states (Dubai maybe the least since its economy is more diversified than the rest) will feel the pain. This crisis will bring a new equilibrium with economy healing up for projects to kick start again.

Well, maybe not stopped! In the latest picture, the right wing of the tower has jumped two levels and now reads 014 (an increase of two levels)!

you are dreaming

The world buys a day more than 95 million barrels of oil , how can the world that the alternative to the millions of barrels of oil , and the oil find is not only to produce electricity such as gas , but for many petrochemical products does not have a replacement oil only . It's a period of economic recession for the world , led by China, prices will improve soon . The project will not stop This was stated by Prince Alwaleed bin Talal many times been monitoring the required amounts .

By the way

Khalifa Tower was built in the global crisis in 2009 and then the price of oil was about $ 35

The impasse has hurt many in Dubai, but did not prevent her from prosperity.

See her now, in spite of the big Dubai's debt to it continues to grow with a lot of large projects .

It is called Burj Khalifa

Burj Khalifa did not stop because Abu Dhabi saved it ... today it is a different story.
