it won't be reviled, news papers in saudi only says +1km .. other companies who couldn't submit a bid seem to say 1100 meters

and they will keep it a secret till the bitter end. Burj Khalifa's height wasn't released either i think and even when it was under construction all we knew was between 800m and 900m

Well Im not sure about that, he wasn't right about Burj either. But than .. no one was. Everybody said like 818 meters or like 819.1 but they didn't reveal the height until the opening. Probably with this tower it'll be the same.

Yes I did get info and some plans on the BK years before inauguration that I haven't recieved for any other project so far. The fact that it was info on the next WTB being constructed at the time was a dream come true ! Hopefully someone will give info like that for this project once it gets going - I would be happy to break it down and post.

Hi King.
1 - 818.0 was correct as per the plans and is still correct as it measures from the ground level.
2 - 819.1 was the height to tip of the top platform as per the plans - they later revised said platform.
3 - 828.0 that the CTBUH recognizes as the height to architectural top is the same as the 818, level for level, it's just they measure from level B1 (2 levels / 10.0 meters lower).
4 - 829.842 is the CTBUH recognized height to tip.

Anyway - back OT.
I agree the height will be a closely guarded secret untill opening or inauguration. As I stated above - hopefully as much info that was leaked for the BK will also leak out for the next WTB.

It was good to see some soil testing activity on the site from the latest pics.
Some news and renders on the design are eagerly anticipated.

أرض جدة
تقع أرض جده في الجزء الشمالي من المدينة على ساحل البحر الأحمر على الجانب الشمالي لشرم أبحر والبحر الأحمر، وهي منطقة معروفة بجمال طبيعيتها والمرافق الخاصة بالشواطئ. وتبلغ مساحة هذه الأرض أكثر من 2 مليون متر مربع وتبعد حوالي 20 دقيقة بالسيارة عن مركز مدينة جدة وخمس دقائق إلى الشمال الغربي من مطار الملك عبدالعزيز. ويتألف الموقع من أرض مفتوحة ومستوية نسبياً وغير مطورة في الوقت الحاضر. وقد تم البناء في المنطقة المحيطة بها مباشرة حيث توجد مساكن خاصة وناد على الواجهة المطلة على البحر والمحاذية للموقع من الناحيتين الغربية والجنوبية. وقد اشترت الشركة أراض مجاورة تصل الموقع بشرم أبحر والبحر الأحمر.

وتخطط المملكة القابضة لاستخدام أرض جده لأغراض متنوعة منها التجاري والسكني وبناء منتجع سياحي تتوسطه ناطحة سحاب تحيط بها مرافق مختلفة منها مساحات خاصة بالمكاتب ووحدات سكنية، ومدرسة وفنادق وسوق تجاري. وسيتضمن المشروع تنفيذ بنية تحتية كبيرة بما في ذلك جسر علوي عبر خليج أبحر يصل بين الموقع ومركز المدينة والمطار في الجنوب لتقليل المسافات التي تقطعها السيارات.

وتقدر الشركة القيمة الإجمالية المحتملة لهذا المشروع الاستثماري بأكثر من 55 مليار ريال، وقد تم تكليف بوز آلن هاميلتون ("بوز آلن")، وهي شركة عالمية رائدة في مجال التخطيط الاستراتيجي والاستشارات الإدارية، بإجراء تحليل للسوق بالنسبة لمختلف مكونات المشروع ودراسة التصميم العام للمشروع في ضوء هذا التحليل، وتقييم الأداء المالي المتوقع له مستقبلاً. كما كلفت الشركة كلاً من شركة العمرانية وشركة HOK بإعداد خطة أساسية للمشروع، وشركة بيكارد تشيلتون بتصميم ناطحة السحاب، إضافة إلى شركات هندسية متخصصة أخرى بالنسبة للتصميم المعماري والبنية الأساسية وتخطيط الشوارع وحركة السيارات والتكاليف والجدول الزمني للتنفيذ وغير ذلك.

سيضم المشروع برجاً شاهقاً، ووحدات سكنية ومحلات تجارية ومساحات مكتبية ومنتجعاً على الشاطئ وفندقين من فئة أربع نجوم ومدرسة.

Jeddah Land
The Jeddah land site is located in the city's northern area, on northern side of the Obhur Creek and the Red Sea, an area known for its natural beauty and beach facilities. It comprises more than 2 million square metres. It is approximately 20 minutes driving distance from the city centre of Jeddah and 5 minutes north west of the King Abdul Aziz airport. The site consists of relatively level open land which is presently undeveloped. The immediately surrounding area is developed with private residences and club facilities on the waterfront which borders the site on the west and south. The project has acquired adjacent sites to provide access to Obhur creek and the Red Sea.

KHC plans to use the Jeddah land for a mixed-use commercial, residential and resort development, anchored by a large skyscraper surrounded by other facilities including office space, residential units, a school, hotels and retail facilities. Some infrastructure works will be constructed, including a bridge across Obhur Creek, linking the site to the city centre and airport to reduce driving distances.

KHC estimates that the total investment potential that will be generated by this project will be in excess of SR 55 billion. It has engaged Booz Allen Hamilton ("Booz Allen"), the global strategy and management consulting firm, to analyse the market for the various components of this project, review the project development concept in the light of this market analysis, and evaluate the project’s expected financial performance going forward. It has also retained Omrania & Associates (O&A) together with HOK to develop a master plan for the project, plus Pickard Chilton for the skyscraper design, plus other specialized engineering firms for structural, infrastructure and traffic design, cost and time planning, etc.

The proposed development consists of a landmark tower, residential units, retail space, office space, a beach resort, hotels and an education campus.

قالت شركة المملكة القابضة إنها حققت نمواً في صافي أرباحها خلال الربع الثالث بنسبة 52.6% ليصل الى 160 مليون ريال، مقابل 104.8 مليون ريال للربع المماثل من العام السابق.

وزادت ارباح الربع الثالث بنسبة 18.1% عن تلك المسجلة في الربع الثاني من هذا العام والبالغة 135.4 مليون ريال.

وبلغ إجمالي الربح خلال الربع الثالث 75.3 مليون ريال، مقابل 283.7 مليون ريال للربع المماثل من العام السابق وذلك بانخفاض قدره 73.5%.

وارتفع صافي الربح في الأشهر التسعة الاولى من العام بنسبة 50% مسجلاً 370.7 مليون ريال، مقابل 247.1 مليون ريال للفترة المماثلة من العام الماضي.

وقالت الشركة في بيان على موقع السوق السعودي إن سبب التغير في صافي الربح يعود الى تحسن أداء الشركات الزميلة بالإضافة للدخل من الاستثمار بالرغم من انخفاض توزيعات الأرباح من استثمارات الشركة في أسواق المال.

واضافت ان التغير في إجمالي الإيرادات وإجمالي التكاليف والمصاريف يعود الى تغير طريقة المحاسبة للاستثمارات في شركة فيرمونت رافلز العالمية وشركة الاستثمار العقاري المحدودة من طريقة توحيد القوائم المالية الى طريقة المحاسبة وفق طريقة حقوق الملكية وذلك خلال الربع الثاني من العام الحالي.

Prince Alwaleed bin Talal bin Abdulaziz Alsaud, Chairman of Kingdom Holding Company (KHC), announced the Company's financial results of operations for the third quarter and the nine months ended September 30, 2010. The Company announced net income of SR 160 million (US$42.7 million), an increase of 52.6% when compared to the results for the same quarter of 2009. The consolidated net income for nine months totaled SR 370.7 million, an increase of 50%.

The Company is continuing to experience improving results from its hotel management companies and its owned hotels and associate companies and income on investments.

Prince Alwaleed said "Kingdom Holding Co. continues on the path of profitability through its sound strategic plan. I feel confident that KHC's financial results will continue to grow during the remainder of this year."

كشف رجل الأعمال السعودي الملياردير الأمير الوليد بن طلال بن عبد العزيز رئيس مجلس إدارة شركة «المملكة القابضة»، عن قرب الإعلان بالبدء رسميا في مشروع عقاري بمحافظة جدة (غرب السعودية)، يتضمن أطول ناطحة سحاب في العالم، كما أعلن في وقت سابق. وقال الأمير الوليد بن طلال لـ«الشرق الأوسط» إن الإعلان عن البدء رسميا في بناء المشروع العقاري الذي يتضمن الناطحة الأعلى في العالم سيكون خلال 3 أسابيع، ولم يعط تفاصيل أكثر حيال الموضوع، حيث أشار إلى أنه سيتم الإعلان عن ذلك في مؤتمر صحافي قريبا.
وكانت شركة «المملكة القابضة» أعلنت عن إنشاء مشروعين عقاريين في السعودية، الأول في محافظة جدة، وهو عبارة عن مشروع متعدد الاستخدامات، تتوسطه ناطحة سحاب وصفها الأمير الوليد بأنها الأطول في العالم، وسيبلغ حجم الاستثمار فيه نحو 75 مليار ريال (20 مليار دولار)، ويقع في شمال شرم أبحر، على مساحة 3.5 مليون متر مربع.

في حين يقع المشروع الثاني في العاصمة السعودية الرياض ويصل حجم الاستثمار فيه نحو 25 مليار ريال (6.6 مليار دولار)، وسيكون عبارة عن مشروع ضخم يتكون من متنزه وفندق وجميع وسائل الترفية الأخرى، بالإضافة إلى أكثر من 10 آلاف وحدة سكنية مصممة وفق أحدث التصاميم والمتطلبات العصرية. ويأتي حديث الأمير الوليد بن طلال في وقت أعلنت فيه شركة «المملكة القابضة» عن تحقيق صافي الدخل الموحد للربع الثالث من هذا العام ارتفاعا من خلال 160 مليون ريال (42.6 مليون دولار)، بزيادة تصل إلى 52.6 في المائة، في حين بلغ إجمالي صافي الدخل في البيت خلال الأشهر التسعة الماضية، نحو 370.7 مليون ريال (98.8 مليون دولار) زيادة بنسبة 50 في المائة. وعلق الأمير الوليد بن طلال على النتائج بقوله «شركة (المملكة القابضة) تتميز باستثماراتها المتنوعة محليا وعالميا، وبالتالي خروج العالم من الأزمة الاقتصادية سيسهم في تسجيل (المملكة القابضة) أرباحا، في ظل ما تعيشيه قطاعات العقار والفنادق وقطاع البنوك، إضافة إلى قطاعي السياحة والإعلام، من نهضة ونمو مستمر».

DUBAI, Oct 21 (Reuters) - Saudi-based Kingdom Holding Co 4280.SE plans to build the world's tallest tower as part of a project worth 75 billion riyals in the city of Jeddah, a newspaper report said on Thursday.

Alsharq Al-Awsat newspaper, citing Kingdom's Chairman Prince Alwaleed bin Talal, said the company will officially announce the project at a press conference in three weeks.

The skyscraper will be at the centre of the mixed-use project, which will stretch over 3.5 million square metres of land, the newspaper added.

It also said Kingdom Holding plans another development in the capital city of Riyadh with an estimated investment value of 25 billion riyals. It will include a park, a hotel and other entertainment elements, as well as 10,000 residential units.

Kingdom Holding, the investment firm of the Saudi billionaire prince, posted a 52.6 percent rise in third-quarter earnings on Monday, driven by higher investment returns. [ID:nLDE69H1MA]

Kingdom, 95-percent owned by the nephew of Saudi ruler King Abdullah, has minority stakes in some of the world's top companies the most valuable of which is Citigroup (C.N).
