Otherwise you wouldn't be able to see the whole tower soon.

The higher they get, the smaller the floors will be

You can't. This tower has no design. If this can ever be called a design, then it should be named Bean Counter Style.
Remember this post: a new architectural style name has been born just yet.

Yesterday I saw a docu about burj khalifa's construction. They said the tower was going up at a scale of 1 floor per week, but that caused them delay. It was too slow to make the deadline. I see kt going up even slower. So I start to question the current deadlines.

At BK, the speed has also been higher than 1 floor/week.
BK also had a big setback in the delivery and installation of the cladding (first cladding supplier went bankrupt before anything was delivered).

At KT, the speed seemed not high the past year.
Design and construction are slightly different from BK, so it's really difficult to tell.
Also the part above 800 m is "unknown area" in the building industry so far.

A setback in schedule also was the terrible crane accident in Mecca.
Due to safety investigations at many building sites in SA, construction of KT also slowed down.

As Fayzoon mentioned a few posts above, the reducing floor area will give some speed up at each floor.
(But vertical transport time of materials increases, giving some slow-down...).

Why is the space between every floor that big? i mean look at those workers in the 7th floor, it looks like every floor is around 4 meters, Or the workers are short... which i highly doubt it.
Is that a office floor or something? because 4 meters is way too much for a residential floor.

Standard floor height at KT is 4.000 meters. Also the residential floors.
Floor will get a false ceiling with much equipment above it (air conditioning ducting, drain piping, etc.).

At various intervals, there are a few higher floors.
These are called "mechanical floors".
Here, utility equipment is installed (air conditioning units, power distribution, fire-fighting equipment, drinking water pumps, etc.).

The total amount of equipment, piping, ducting and cabling in a building like KT is enormous.
Hence the standard floor height of 4.000 m, which is absolutely necessary, and no void space.

Maybe they will be constructed later.
Or it will be void space (high entrance hall, or so).

although it's an amazing project, there's 336 metres of wasted room at the top just to break new records. Please don't tell me it's not a conceit...

The only thought I could imagine on the matter is they are working symmetrically to laterally brace the core wings for the height that the structure is at, at that time. So start in the "center" and work up and down. 4M to 7 could be a double height floor but there are openings as well so they may just come back and build it in later.

Neat to see the progress as this thing climbs upward. thanks for the updates.
