Which "real" tower? What you see is not just the core, it's the whole tower which is rising here just without cladding yet.

huh?
The floor plates might look small relative to the building, but the building is HUGE, the base is about 100m wide!

There's already been a discussion about this and the floor space is quite small. It only has half the floor space Sears/Willis tower in Chicago, even though this building is more than twice the height.

Sears Tower - 442m 416,000 mē
Jeddah Tower - 1000m - 243,866 mē

The Sears tower is a terrible example. It's floor plates are completely inappropriate. Being 25 meters away from the nearest window is fine if you're in a large open plan office, but it's no use for a hotel or apartment.

In that post, couple weeks ago as you can see floors are not completed. Where is the rest of the floors towards the exterior part of KT, which in the future will be cladding?

They do, but the important part is how much space is in every floor. For examble, When you want to build a restaurant in this building, You make it in 1 floor, not piece by piece in a few floors. Another examble is that there would be a really long tower that has like 1 square meter in every floor, but when combining them all it becomes the same as this tower. What's the point of that? 1 square meter is so tiny that you can't use it for anything!

Wiki quotes CTBUH
http://skyscrapercenter.com/jeddah/kingdom-tower/2
Wikis information isn't up to date, perhaps CTBUH had updated it's data and no one on wiki had taken notice of that.
Comparable is the GFA (gross floor area) and for JD it's 243,866 mē

A lot of GFA numbers have been floating around (including wildly different ones from CTBUH). The fact is, an official GFA has not been disclosed.

But I don't expect the Jeddah tower to have a lower GFA than Burj Khalifah. Their footprints are similar (Jeddah's is slightly bigger) and JT has a larger floor count. Even if you take into account Jeddah tower's less efficient design (the tapering and lack of overhang at the ends of the core), it would not make it a fifth less in floor area.

I wrote a mail to CTBUH asking for the reliability of their information. That's the answer:

Quote:
Dear Christian,

Our information on Jeddah Tower comes directly from Jeddah Economic Company, the developer for the project. There have been many updates to the design which have changed the floor area and ours is up to date as of last year.

All the best,

Aric Austermann

CTBUH Web Editor
I think for now we should deal with this data.

It's the gross floor area GFA, which includes machinery and mechanical rooms, lobby, room for stairs etc. The unsuable space for living rooms, hotel, office and so on is yet smaller.
Anyway, the JT has frightening limited space in relation to its hight.

But it's a symbol of power, prosperity, strengths and knowledge, making a building possible that a decade ago only was a vision. Furthermore the most people doesn't take care how much space it has, the height counts
