The constant angle makes the tower look very unique

Long way 2 2020. But, you're right the speed still need to speed up a bit. This last period was a hell of slowness. Let's wait and see

I think at the near future, when it at least passes the 200 m height (only 4 floors left), even the workers will have more enthusiasm to work faster

(and for how long? *cough* "Dubai's next move") I don't think it will be recognised or in the same league to buildings as mentioned like The Empire State, The Burj Khalifa, The Shard, Taipei 101, CN Tower etc... It's about more than just a skyscraper.

However that doesn't say that it won't change in the future. Only time will tell what's next for Jeddah and maybe this could be the best thing to happen with much more to follow? I do think they have a long way to go tho.
The Burj Khalifa (formerly Burj Dubai) was also in the middle of nowhere when it was built and yet it is recognized all over the world today (mostly and only because if its height and because it holds the worlds tallest title). What makes you think that the case will be different with Jeddah Tower?

The whole thread needs to be cleaned but to answer your question Burj khalifa wasn't in the middle of nowhere that's first, second it had many many megaprjects rising with it and before it in Dubai. Finally the aim of building Burj khalifa wasn't to show off only but to use it as a tool to draw more tourists and investments into the city and diversify the economy which Dubai started doing from the 1990s before even thinking of building it.

To simplify my statement, Burj khalifa was built during the construction & touristic revolution in Dubai and NOT to initiate it.

As you can see below Dubai already had SZR almost filled with towers before the construction of this one.

The Indian government should just get all the nationals out of the KSA, and by law make it illegal from them to go there any more. Any way the Indian economy is picking up while the KSA is in a mess they cant fix in the short term.

This is why I'm saying it will be a miracle if this building gets completed.

BTW oil has dropped again today, plus the KSA are undercutting the price of oil to Asia so they don't lose market share to the Iranians. This problem will not get any better soon.

For those who want to see how oil is dropping here's a link,

Thanks Gabriel, you are totally right.
Additionally, the whole Downtown Dubai district was under construction when BK was at the same stage as Jeddah Tower is now. The only thing that I can see around JT is a desert while Downtown Dubai was in full swing at that stage.
I really hope they hurry up with the district around JT unless they want tourists to travel along am abandoned desert road to access the tower.

This is also a good picture to demonstrate how far Downtown Dubai has progressed when BK reached the same height as the current height of Jeddah Tower.

Kingdom city (5.2 km2) is way larger than Dubai Downtown (2 km2) that's why the area is devided into 3 stages of construction including the tower. This is only the 1st stage area
