Megatall Jeddah Tower Over 20 Percent Complete

Quote:
The world's next tallest building is over 20 percent structurally complete, as Jeddah Economic Company and Kingdom Holding Company continue to watch construction unfold on their monumental development. With 167 habitable floors stretching over a kilometre-high volume, the Jeddah Tower will handily surpass the 828-metre height of Dubai's Burj Khalifa, which has been the world's tallest structure since 2007.

Did India have to step in and send food to their workers who were not paid their wages?

No food, and water, the electricity is shut in the blistering heat so no AC. No pay in over eight months, and the poor laborers didn't even get there passports back.

You cant build construction/buildings if your employees are hungry, and thirsty.

10,000 - 20,000 laborers are immediately effected with the potential of another four million if things don't get better which could lead to a humanitarian disaster.

It came down to the local South Asian community, and their home governments having to step in, and give them the needed basic essentials just to survive.

It's appalling how they treat their foreign laborers like animals, they need a more human approach in immediately, and in the future.

Bin Laden accounts where frozen by the government up until recently due to an investigations following the crane incident in Mecca in early 2016 and the company was almost bankrupt.

This is not an excuse for them (Bin Laden) but they are the scum of the scum when it comes to employees/laborers treatment.

The government is working hard to solve the issue and I can assure you they will do whatever they can to help these poor laborers.

Oil is tumbling again, and the KSA will be burning through more cash reserves if the price of oil keeps dropping. Kingdom Holding has also lost a lot money, and construction contractors are on the verge of being paid with IOU's.

The new guard are even planning to off load their countries cash cow oil because they know it's worthless from now on in an anticipated IPO of Aramco. Obviously if they knew if oil would be worth more in the future they would pump less today, so in the future they could get more market share, or not. Instead they very well know the United States will never ever be in a energy straight jacket again so they are stuck between a rock, and a very hard place.

To make matters worse the KSA is involved/supporting/financing two proxy wars on it's Southern, and Northern borders which they just cant win. With all their modern weaponry they can't over throw rag tag armies in Toyota pick up trucks, and small arms fire power which is also bleeding them valuable finance. To make matters worse it looks like Turkey wont support them any more in the North, they have other plans from what we see after the attempted coup. There is a very strong chance Iran will have a solid hegemony in Iraq, Syria, and Lebanon to the North in the future.

Then you get the possibility of Trump being president which would be the nail in the coffin. There will be no more KSA external political shenanigans, a thirteenth century mind set will need to catch up to today's real world very quickly.

So people in the end let's be real, if this building get's finished it will be a miracle.
So true.

Did you read the comments in the article you posted. I think that would give you a better idea of what's really going on.

After the KSA burned through 120 billion USD of their cash reserves in 2015, it looks like they might just do a little better this year. I read they are only expected to burn through another 87 billion USD this year/2016.

You are making things bigger than what it actually looks like and your discussion is all about "Saudi Arabia" making people here thinking that Saudi Arabia is the only country suffered from falling oil price! while the truth is "falling oil price is affecting all countries around the world and Saudi Arabia is the least country may suffer from (economy crisis)?due to oil"!

You know very well that the economy of Saudi Arabia is HUGE and we have a lot of investment opportunities and by 2020 we can live without oil income! in that time, a lot of countries around us will suffer. Low oil price move the government to start using our non petroleum variable resources and believe me things are getting better day after day. Last year the total income from non-petroleum sector was increased by 29%! It was just a quick fix. In the next 4 years this number will increases significantly.

Please the topic is about JT not about Saudi Arabia!
Let's talk about the tower
