Wise words...

So: as there is almost no progress at the moment, let's be patient until this project speeds up again...

Look down not up, everyone is so busy looking for the forms to climb, and top to rise, that they are missing the floors. Look how many finished floor plates there are in the latest shots, now compare that to a couple of weeks ago. It was not long back that someone posted with joy, that there were now 5 floors that were complete, how many are there now.

I rather think that, in the coming decades, we'll see the "mid-tier" of towers creeping upwards. 400 m towers being as common - and architecturally varied - as 250 m towers are today. With current technology and structural design, you have to give the load bearing system the absolute highest priority when building really tall. That fact may not change, but new techniques and materials give more leeway to the architects when building something that isn't record-beating, just "tall".

So fewer vertical sticks, and more experimenting with shapes and layouts. I know it's controversial, but I like to think of Marina Bay Sands as a good example of a really cool building that just happens to be tall (~200 m), rather than a tall building that just happens to be really cool. Such experiments is what I'd really like to see more of in the future.

It can be on hold officially or practically. "On hold" is not a technical term, it's a proj. mgmt. term.

If you mean they have some technical problems to continue: I don't think so.
They are just at about 200 m, which is not much nowadays.
The total technology of this tower has been worked out into detail before they even decided to build it, believe me.

Actual reason for delay seems to be the situation around SBG (delay in payments of workers, etc.), which they are ordered to solve.
Serious enough, off course. But sooner or later, construction will commence.
