To be optimistic, I hope this slow growth is due to modifications to plans to increase the height of this tower to compete with Dubai. Probably that spire can be modificated. I'm sure that, like Burj Khalifa, this tower will be taller than planned. Exciting competition !

Idk, if they make the spire any taller it may no longer count for building height. It would need to be occupied.

Wrong, It has to be at least 50% occupied to be counted as a building

With the first 670 meters occupied, it can be increased to 1300 meters and count as a building

How long has it been rising so slow ? I can barely remember when the pace was fast or at least seemed to be accurate to the schedule

Maybe it'll be higher than 1007m in the end, but i don't think they can beat the Dubai Creek Tower.

I wonder if the slow construction rate would have any effect on the concrete structure from the wind and heat, once the glass cladding is installed the concrete is safe from the elements

I think this is the reason for construction being so slow

I wonder if it is realistic to make this tower much higher in this stage.

Load capacity of the foundation can not be changed.
Off course there is a large margin on that. But it can not be spend on extra load. It is a safety margin.

Also, making the tower much higher will change its architectural shape.
The inclination of the wings could be changed from now to a steeper angle.
But this will make the tower much less attractive.

I don't expect it will happen. (Although I hope it will...)

The height can be increased without affecting the uniqueness of the design and without adding weight and keeping the load in the safety margin. They can easily do this

I remember when the CEO of Jeddah Economic Company said that the height of the top spire won't be announced until the observation deck is passed at 670 meters

All these make a height increase very possible, let's see what is going to happen in these coming exciting years of a very unique competition to the highest structure title (Since, the highest building will definitely go to Jeddah Tower)

I'm sorry but this talk seems like a lot of wishful thinking at this point. Based on the pace grinding to a virtual halt, I would think that if there is a redesign it is for a shorter structure, not a taller one.
As I have said before, I love every aspect of supertall construction, but let's be realistic here. I have not seen much evidence in the last 18 months to give me confidence that they are excited to go bigger.

I head that from someone else here as well, that they are maybe revising downwards. Don't quote me on anything this is no way an official source but things to be pointing to that direction. The lack of projects in the tower's master development also doesn't seem like a good sign
