When a private company built something it doesn't mean that there is no government money involved. Especially in a country like Saudi Arabia where Private companies have strict ties with the government and vice verse.
Even in the Europian Union, Big Multinationals receive (illegal) national government fundings.
Such a tower is not even profitable in New York let alone a place where ground prices aren't that expensive.

Besides that, i do not care where the money comes from but I do know that if you built something and you invest (privately) billions of dollars in it. Then you want the project to be finished as fast as possible so you'll receive a faster return on investment.

I really love these projects and I am in favor of it even when these things are being built in Saudi Arabia.

Jeddah Tower will be surrounded by four skyscrapers on all directions with varying heights reaching more than 400 meters:
300 meters +
200 meters +
130 meters +

Only two workers in the last pictures, then again the guy in the yellow vest and guy driving the bulldozer might be the same guy // no wonder this tower grows so slow

Are we really playing this tune?

I don't know how many people are working on site, but there are many times that visible from the shots Saif posted, not taking account of those you can't see behind the formwork (where I'd assume most of the work is happening).

--

Speaking of the formwork, what's happening with one of the wings' jump form? It looks like it's been disassembled around one of the shear walls.

That wall "ended". Look at the diagram on the floor 38 and you will see one of the vertical lines stops there.

By the way, making some calculations about the height, some things do not fit me:
  • Level 42 is 169.925 m
  • Level 60 is 241.925 m
  • That makes a difference between floor 60 and 42 (18 floors) of 72 m
  • Divided 72 m between the 18 floors we have 72 / 18 = 4m
  • There are 3 floors remaining to level 60, which means 3 * 4 = 12m
  • If the height off level 60 is 241.925m, then the actual height should be 229.925m (so, 230m)

Am I missing something? Why do we have 227m and not 230?

Really, there are 4 floors remaining to level 60. 4 * 4 = 16m
242 - 16 = 226m.

Jeddah tower is on the 56th floor, and its height is 226, not 227.

Good progress at the moment, it seems.

And luckily, there are still people on this forum who believe in this tower!

You're right ! Indeed, we can see it on this modeling...

May the recent slow down of the pace be due to the beginning of the City's works ?

I agree, that is what is so curious about the whole thing. The cash burn must be ferocious and the investors should want a return on their money as soon as possible. In the pictures above it does seem a very similar city plan to Dubai, but at this rate they will never catch up. Whenever a liveable zone is finished in Jedda, Dubai (and Shanghai, Singapore etc. Etc.) will have already built two more tall cities.

I understand there is a special Muslim market for Saudi, but economic reality must apply at some point.

From the wiki:

Quote:
According to reports by Citi Investment Research & Analysis, $220 billion worth of development, accounting for 36% of all construction spending in the MENA region, will be directly or indirectly beneficial to Jeddah Tower.
This tower is only a piece in a much bigger jigsaw which will see its value go up considerably.
