Compare the width of the first quarter and you will find that it has the half of the volume

It is like a stretched triangle

Let's not forget

Though I find the pace of this project as entirely uninspiring, I wanted to remind us all that the greatest work has already been finished. I actually got sad when it started to rise because we lost sight of the remarkable groundwork. This building does not sit on bedrock. It sits on the physics of resistance. Let's look back and appreciate that none of what develops in the future is possible without creative and beautiful engineering.

I want the trolls to shut up, which is why they're added to the ignore list. They should never be engaged. For everyone else, if they are actually interested in discussion and want more in depth responses they should try posting more open-ended questions, instead of leaving shallow drive-by commentary.

You would think that this would be moving faster the narrower it gets.

It seems like it's doing the complete opposite.

I thought Saudi Arabia had rivers of cash flowing through it?

I am very biased about the new WTC. I think its a nice complex and it surely is huge, yet with all the development going on in NYC it feels like it is planned without any ambition. I still have to make my mind up about it.

Also the federal aviation agency cuts the height at 2000 feet, so towers can barely reach megatall height, you can try to apply for an exception, but its unlikely the FAA will grant it. The bureaucracy behind projects is much bigger, labour costs, materials etc. safety measurements, union workers etc. Then you have the NIMBYs. Its much more complex in the western countries than elsewhere.

To this day, there is not a single place on earth (including Hong Kong, Tokyo, NYC, and few others) which would NEED a megatall.

It would look better in Midtown or maybe Hudson Yards where the bulk of New York's skyscrapers are. I do do agree however that this tower looks good in Jeddah but not NYC.

Others said the same when the first high rises were built, but take cities like NYC, Toronto, or Hong Kong and try to picture how much the would sprawl if not for the high rise.
