Fayzoon is right on the fact that this tower is having major issues because of the crisis so let's cross our fingers for it to speed up.
Kingdom Tower startet to rise in September 2014, now 3 years later it's just arround 250m tall.

Burj Khalifa started to rise in May 2005. 3 years later in May 2008 the tower was between 650m and 700m tall already.

This is taking far too long to construct. Construction started 4 years ago and still only about 1/3 of the building's concrete has been poured. It will take another 8 years just until the concrete is complete (September 2025). Then it will at least another 3 years until all the glass windows and electrical work and everything is completed before the building can officially open. I'm a fan of this building and I can't wait for it to be completed, I'm just saying that the people who are promising the building will be open by 2020 or 2021 are either lying or delusional.

It is an impressive graph mainly because of the work there is behind. Thank you very much for it!

Just lookint at it carefully, it is possible to notice the speed is getting lower and lower with the height. Here we were saying (I was one of them) that maybe, when the structure gets taller, the construction speed will raise because the area is smaller. Unfortunatelly, it seems to be totally the oposite case.

That is right am with you. But, don't ignore the crisis like it was a small one

Emaar is a faster developer for sure than Bin Ladin Group. But, imagine when Bin Ladin got its crane falling on the heads of the visitors of Mecca, the government made the private business of Bin Laden truly miserable.

I don't exaggerate when I say to you that the punishment got a lot of people talk about it here in Saudi Arabia. It is good that the project status didn't get to be officially on hold and stayed under construction but, only a delay occurred

The speed up lately is good news. Let's just hope it goes on faster from now

At a guess, I think it is because the facade manufacturer would want to produce and deliver the facade elements in one continuous operation. That is, producing the panels and delivering them to the site in a steady tempo (say, forty panels every day or something, I just made that number up). This means that the construction site leader would not order the panels until the tower has reached such a size (or the construction process has reached a phase) where facade elements can be mounted in the same tempo as the delivery. Otherwise, they would have to store the elements on the construction site (which is expensive), or the manufacturer would have to halt production (also expensive). We might see a dozen-odd test panels mounted before then, as one small batch of panels can easily be manufactured without upsetting the factory's production schedule, but until the tower is ready for it, there would be no regular delivery.

I don't mind the glass getting started a little late. It nice to see this much of the structure without the curtain wall.

Its probably test cladding like someone was saying earlier. Its definitely a good sign that the tower is progressing.

Yes !

It is the proof that this project is ALIVE !!!

(But this could be a test for the quality, mounting method, etc.
It could be that the total cladding amount will go into production soon.)

By the way:
From the curved structure, we can see how enormous the Podium will be.
This building is of a complete different scale than we have seen before in the world.
