Notice

i hope the following guys may take a notice on the golden vat in above pics, you could easily find lots of bad scratches on it. do u know who did those and how did they do those?
In the the year of 1900, eight civilized countries' solders took a "peaceful and gentlemanlike walk" in china, they "picked up" lots of wealth form china's treasury, palaces and ordinary people's home, however, they wanted more, so they scraped the golden vat by their bayonets and swords to get the gold plated on the vat. the eight civilized countries were Japan, Britain, France, Russia, German, America, Austria, and Italy.
in addition to those outstanding works, what the more prominent was created by France and Britain in the year of 1856, those "gentlemen" looted the most splendid and biggest royal palace and park which as 3 times big as the one in Versailles.

It's nice to see that some interior sections of the private quarters have been opened as well. I visited the forbidden city two years ago and I found it a bit of a pity that we couldn't enter the buildings to see how the interior used to look like.

Very few of the interiors are actually open. Some have reopened as museums housing artifacts, but those that house the furniture / living quarters are still off-limits, and tourists can only see from the outside / window.
