GOLD COAST | Transit Centre Twin Towers | 101 fl x 2 | Canceled

E1 - 101 FLOORS - 340m and E2 - 70 FLOORS - 320m

Render from: http://allaboutskyscrapers.com/forum...c=1045.new#new

Portberg Property has upped the ante to competitors with its submission (artist's impression pictured) for a $850 million 101-storey residential and commercial redevelopment of the Surfers Paradise Transit Centre tower. If built the property will eclipse Sunland's Q1 site on the Gold Coast. The architects are Marchese + Partners International. Portberg managing director, James Cirulis, said the project was fully underwritten by Winchester Group, an associate of merchant bank Gresham Partners. Mr Cirulis submitted a formal expression of interest to the Gold Coast City Council last week covering the acquisition and development of the Transit Centre.

It just stays it will eclipse Q1.

Q1 is 323m to spire, these have no spire... so at least 323m to roof!

These would by far and away be the tallest buildings in Australia!

Neither can I!

I hope it looks similar to the Q1 and has a facade that is reflective aqua glass.

No way, I would say something in the 330-350m range.

When I visited Gold Coast 2 years ago I was already really impressed by its skyline, especially when seen from the mountains. And now 200m and 300m (CoC, Soul, ANA,...) towers are popping up there all over the place. The Gold Coast will really become the Manhattan of the Southern Hemisphere

Aren't there height restrictions in place that would be prohibitive for these to be built? They do look nice though, at least in their granulated lo-res picture. And if they really will cost only $850 mil, they seem quite economically feasible, although that number seems a bit low to me for two 101-storey towers.

What are the chances of this actually happening?

Will it pass GC Council? What about the other proposals for the site?

This site is in the Surfers Paradise unlimited height zone on one of the biggest sites in the city, to go over 300m you need civil aviation clearance but it is formality. Clearly this is over well over 300m.

There are 5 other proposals for the site from some big companies and rumoured to be 80 storeys+, they include Sunland, the builders of Q1 and D1, Raptis who did a lot of towers of the Gold Coast, and Grocon who built the Eureka tower in Melbourne, bascially a who's who of Australian tall/supertall tower builders!

I would rate this design a good chance though.

As if they would build a commercial building on the Gold Coast, I bet there will be restaurants and shops at the base.

From the initial rendering - they look almost identical to Empire World Towers in Miami - 1200ft | 106fl
