Haha I've never checked out Zaras printed shirts so I can speak to that. I just love some of their suits. Like I said, I have 3 and they're always getting me compliments wherever I wear them.

Nordstrom Rack is moving into the old Toys 4 Us space at Northgate Mall.

I know Esprit was consistent with their lines of clothing.
Zara stores can be very different from one another. Each store restocks and orders what their customers have been buying on a weekly basis. It's not like Gap or any other old brand where they ship the same product to all their stores globally at once. American Zara stores will have less slim fit or trendier merchandise than their European or Asian stores because that's what Americans want. That's part of the reason they're struggling to expand here.

And why Americans continue to get fatter! Fashion can be so accommodating (pun intended).

7-Eleven To Open Downtown, Sell Liquor

OK so this isn't terribly big news unless you're a retail nerd, or a saucy boozehound, like me, but apparently 7-Eleven will be opening its first store downtown in Denny Triangle, at the base of Cosmopolitan Tower (8th and Virginia?), and it will be selling Mother's Ruin! I saw the notice for a liquor application by 7-Eleven in the window of the door. Right now the store interior is under construction. I'm crossing my fingers the place'll be open 24 hours a day to serve the influx of residents in the area.

A question I have is: Only 10,000 square-foot stores will be allowed to sell liquor (except for grandfathered-in state liquor stores or rural stores that are the only stores in their trade area), so is this particular location large enough? It's in the northwest corner of the tower. Maybe it goes far back into the building or something.

The store is listed as one of the "off-premises licencees" (http://liq.wa.gov/records/frequently-requested-lists) applying for a liquor licence, so that suggests to me hard liquor will be stocked.

Somebody may have bought one of the existing liquor stores, and they are exercising their right to move the store within 1 mile and be less than 10,000 sq. ft.

Pure conjecture on my part, but really, how often am I wrong?

Zara is like H&M in the sense that it has so many different lines within itself and some stores don't carry the same lines - sucks for people who go to one store and think meh nothing here for me where as another location will have more selection - odd strategy

I find Zara's sizes very small too - their XL is like a M at the gap and they don't ahve anything bigger

Um...no. I wear the same size at Zara that I wear everywhere else basically. It's a European cut so it's on the slim side but their XL is NOT a GAP M...

It's US sizes playing on the vanity of the ever-expanding girth of the average American.

i wear XL at gap and most of their stuff has some moving room - i can't usually get anything in XL at zara to fit so i don't even bother to shop there and i once a bought a coat at the gap that was a M and it fit fine

i swear the gap makes their sizes bigger than anyone else so larger people can say hey i fit XL here instead of XXL

we have loads of zara in vancouver anyway its not that exotic here

same goes for H&M - all their clothes are too small for me - but their socks are way too big and i have pretty average feet 10.5-11 but the ankle on the socks goes up my calf

A 24-hour 7Eleven would be awesome. There's currently nowhere to even pick up a six pack downtown after like 10:30pm.

Well there are lots of convenience stores downtown where you can buy beer or wine until 2, but there's nothing twenty-four hours where you can buy just everyday things, snacks, etc. So if it is open 24/7 (like most of them are, I think?) that'll be perfect.

Odd, it's pretty easy on LQA. Both the Metropolitan Market and QFC are 24 hours. Belltown might not have a 24-hour grocery but I'm sure some stay open past midnight and vaguely recall a 2:00 somewhere.
