The Landmark Bill
In June, PAGCOR experienced its most significant event for 2007 the passage of the Republic Act 9487 otherwise known as the PAGCOR Bill. Signed into law by no less than the President, this important piece of legislation grants the state run gaming firm a 25-Year extension to its franchise, renewable for another 25 years.

This in itself is a breakthrough for the country as it signifies the growing recognition bt the government of the benefits of a legalized gaming industry.
With this, PAGCOR can now go full gear with the implementation of its multi-billion dollar tourism development project, the Bagong Nayong Philippino- Manila Bay Integrated City

People have been hearing about the entertainment cityproject invisioned by Genuino as early as 2001. However, its implementation was hampered by pending expiration of the PAGCOR franchise. But thanks to the timely approval of RA 9487, this ambitious dream is now fast becoming a reality.

The Bagong Nayon Pilipino-Manila Bay integrated City will initially cover about 85 hectares of reclaimed land in Bay City area and will be developed in various stages over the next 10 years.

It will be a fully integrated tourism zone featuring a wide array of iternational grade facilities amenities such as posh luxury hotels, convention stores, state of the art theaters, sports stadiums, restaurants, shopping centers, cultural complexes and museums, amusment parks and an Observation Tower that will be among the tallest structures of its kind in the world.
Meanwhile, the second and third phases of the project include the development of other tourism hubs in the country such as Clark in Pampanga and Cebu in the Visayas.

for me, this design is okay. but i would prefer if they revive the design of the Centennial Tower which was supposed to be completed in time for Philippine Centennial Celebration in 1998.

but isn't the tallest tower under construction right now is Burj Dubai and the final height of that is over 800m, and there's not even an official final height for it yet. The observation tower in E City has to go much taller than 655m if it wants to be the tallest in the world.

Tokyo - Aruze Corp., a Japanese maker of arcade machines, plans to spend about Y250 billion (US$2.4 billion) to build and operate a casino in Manila, Philippines.

Aruze, the largest shareholder of Las Vegas-based Wynn Resorts, Ltd., expects as early as next month to get government approval for the project, which includes a hotel, amusement facilities and a commercial complex.

Operations are expected to start around April 2010, Aruze said in a statement distributed Friday at the Tokyo Stock Exchange.

Tokyo-based Aruze said it would seek expertise to run the facility from Stephen Wynn, chief executive officer of Wynn Resorts.

(4) Business Scale - Estimated total of approx. 250 billion JPY

(5) Future Timetable*

Site and provisional license acquisition: Between end of May 2008 and end of July 2008
Commencement of construction: Around Jan. 2009
Opening of casino and other facilities: Around Apr. 2010

*The acquisition of a provisional license is currently in the stages of deliberation. The above timetable is that foreseen by the Company at the current stage, and is subject to change in the future.

Further details will be provided in full once the site has been secured and acquisition of the license has been confirmed.
