“With Pagcor City, we will quadruple our tourists to 10 million in five years,” he said. “We hope we can catch up with Singapore and Macau.”

I really doubt on this statement. What's attractive in this structure? It's taller ver of CN Tower

The statement is actually talking about the whole entertainment area called Pagcor City not just the tower.

I don't really think, that it would attract tourists
IMO it's nothing special, but I can be wrong, because it has been rendered by people much wiser than me

I hope that this project will materialize soon. I've read somewhere that the construcion for the E-City will start this 2010. Though I'm a bit skeptical with its render, this supertall will definitely put Manila on map.

Is it true that the construction of the tower will not push through due to air traffic issues supposedly because of its height? I've read it somewhere here months ago. There seems to be no update, and i don't have any idea either what's going on in the reclamation area where this is supposed to be constructed. Wikipedia, though i do not know if you consider it reliable, said it has already been approved and was to be constructed last year. It's 2010 and still no updates.

They're actually building casinos, a theme park, etc around the tower + the world's fourth largest mall is immediately right next to it which is set to expand with a coliseum for basketball and boxing matches, all connected to the airport with a monorail.... or at least they say they are.

I've stopped waiting for this project. It's taking too long.

The photos appear like horizontal developments and has nothing to do with the tower. Pagcor covers a lot of acreage.

THE Manila Bay area in Pasay City and Parañaque City is expected to experience a boom in vertical-housing developments from 2010 to 2012, with the inventory value of total units to be constructed seen exceeding over P13 billion.

Celedonio Pile Jr., president and chief executive officer of property management firm Excore Inc., said this is triggered by the developers' and investors' anticipation of the rise in tourism and economic activities in the area due to the multi-billion-dollar Las Vegas-style project of the Philippine Amusement and Gaming Corp. (Pagcor) there called the Bagong Nayong Pilipino-Manila Entertainment City.

Already, Pile said eight developers have started their separate residential developments in the bay area with about P6.6 billion in combined inventory value.

Another eight firms, he said, have also put in the pipeline their separate vertical-housing projects with the same inventory magnitude.

"2010 will be the start of the positioning of the developers. They will either get their joint-venture partners or acquire pieces of properties that they will develop. Construction will happen up to 2012," Pile told the BUSINESS MIRROR.

He said the development of the bay area as a premier residential haven is already over delayed considering it is a prime location.

"Shoreline development is prime because it is one of the rarest properties. However, there were only sporadic developments until SM proved that a project in the area that is large enough and bold enough will succeed," Pile said.

Now, he said, the area has started to gain more attention, especially with the upcoming Las Vegas-style project of Pagcor, which is seen to boost tourism and business activities in the area.

He said at least half of the buyers of the soon-to-rise residential projects in the bay area will be investors who will be renting out the units.

The bay area covers about 660 hectares in lot area. SM owns about 42 hectares, while Pagcor is developing 120 hectares, Pile said.

The Cultural Center of the Philippines is set to be remodeled for 2 mixed-use development.

Pile said more than half of the bay area is still up for grabs.
