The design is so boring and not innovative at all.

this will be an icon of Manila. the location is perfect, beside the sea, but they need to strengthen the foundation so liquefaction will not occur in the event of a strong earthquake. remember this tower will stand on a reclaimed land.

the spherical portion will be the lower observation deck and rumors has it that it will also house PAGCOR's new HQ

No. This tower reminds me more of the KL Tower more than any of the ones mentioned.

EDIT: Oh! Didn't realise he was from KL!! sorry.

----

Too bad their priority is the Whole Gaming Complex... They should pay a lot of attention on the tower since it's getting a lot of attention due to its massive height..

the Entertainment City will only have a few establishments that will house casinos. they want to turn this into something like Las Vegas.

Yeah, i stand corrected about what i have said several pages back. This might be a government endeavor but the funds are coming from the private sector, so this might begin construction before 2010.

At night there will be an amazing view of the casinos and flashy lights of the entertainment city and then further off in the distance you will see all the metro manila skylines and the mountains beyond...but the sad thing is you will also see squatters

PAGCOR-Setting the Standard for performance, excellence, and transparency.

Philippine Daily Inquirer, Febuary 4, 2008

The Philippine Amusement and Gaming Corporation (PAGCOR) enters 2008 on a high note, following an exceptionally strong performance and surfeit of accomplishments in the past year.

The Landmark Bill
In June, PAGCOR experienced its most significant event for 2007 the passage of the Republic Act 9487 otherwise known as the PAGCOR Bill. Signed into law by no less than the President, this important piece of legislation grants the state run gaming firm a 25-Year extension to its franchise, renewable for another 25 years.

This in itself is a breakthrough for the country as it signifies the growing recognition bt the government of the benefits of a legalized gaming industry.
With this, PAGCOR can now go full gear with the implementation of its multi-billion dollar tourism development project, the Bagong Nayong Philippino- Manila Bay Integrated City

People have been hearing about the entertainment cityproject invisioned by Genuino as early as 2001. However, its implementation was hampered by pending expiration of the PAGCOR franchise. But thanks to the timely approval of RA 9487, this ambitious dream is now fast becoming a reality.

The Bagong Nayon Pilipino-Manila Bay integrated City will initially cover about 85 hectares of reclaimed land in Bay City area and will be developed in various stages over the next 10 years.

It will be a fully integrated tourism zone featuring a wide array of iternational grade facilities amenities such as posh luxury hotels, convention stores, state of the art theaters, sports stadiums, restaurants, shopping centers, cultural complexes and museums, amusment parks and an Observation Tower that will be among the tallest structures of its kind in the world.
Meanwhile, the second and third phases of the project include the development of other tourism hubs in the country such as Clark in Pampanga and Cebu in the Visayas.

I'm sorry but the globe does not match the higher observation deck. A redesign of the decks is sufficient.

the design is not bad and the height is going to be imposing considering Manila's backdrop of mostly flat coastline
but i wonder though why PAGCOR did not choose well known architects both Native/International for this massive project

the higher obs deck looks similar to the tower's base.
the globe works on its own.

BTW, I just saw a pic of the CN Tower, I don't know why people are saying it's a redesign. I don't see any similarities..

I disagree. No similarities exept that they're probably both full glass and steel in the observation deck.

Why the heck would they think of building such a tall thing so close to the airport? The proposed location is a couple kilometres from the country's busiest runways.

The site is parallel to the runway so it can be built within the vicinity.
