'Under the Bombs' Competes for Oscar



Lebanese film, "Under the Bombs," for director Philippe Aractingi would participate in the foreign films category contest to win the Oscar next year.
Oscar organizers on Friday confirmed the 67 entries in the Best Foreign Language Film category for next year's 81st edition of the Academy Awards.(AFP-Naharnet)

Nadine Njeim, a former Lebanese beauty queen, was recently chosen to play an Israeli Mossad agent in a Syrian drama series, the Israeli-Arab panet website reported.


Njeim was crowned Lebanon's beauty queen in 2007, and have since ventured into the business world.


The series will be situated in 1967 Syria, on the eve of the Six Say War, and is scheduled to air on Syrian national television during the Ramadan.

When asked how she felt about playing the part of an Israeli spy, Njeim said: "I agreed to take this part, although this might upset some of the public in the Arab world.


"However, it's a chance for me to prove myself as an actress and I will need to be very focused in order to succeed."

UGH I really hope HELP! gets unbanned, so many Arab countries are in a cultural malaise because everything is banned so no criticisms or anything that helps people evolve gets out. I still think the Lebanese will find a way to show the film. I dont think its a bad idea to give it a rating, obiviously I wouldnt want a 10 year old watching such a film, but adults do need to watch it.

yii you know what? It's lebanese bas ma3leh. There a jordanian director who made a movie about Jesus' life, but according to him, it's from a "muslim point of view" (wich is not the case at all), so at the end of the movie, Jesus doesn't get crustified. And Christian communities in Egypt mostly, and a bit from Lebanon are attacking him like hell. He doesn't have the right to change what's written in the bible, since it's about Jesus' life, his movie should be approved by the Church (capital C) before. I watched it yesterday on Tony Khalifeh's worst show ever, lil nacher.
