i think HOK has the lightest stadium roof of the whole world in this capacity.
It has also the lightest stadium roof which can be opened and closed.

And the perfect on the HOK design is that the roof is light,very slim,full of glass and it has no steel elements above and under the roof.Only two big curves which are very ELEGANT.

Man i also like HOK very much

It is a very hard decison between HOK and ASP.But i want share the pro and contras of HOK and ASP.

HOK (Pro)

-Better elegant and modern design
-more organic and better materials like glass.
-perfect and very light roof which can be closed and opened
-also intelligent design "GS Logo"

HOK (Contra)

-can´t increase the capacity of the stadium.
-interiour design (it influence the stadium and fan atmosphere negative).But we really dont know how the interiour is.So this point is suspicious.
-outdoor fan square isn´t as much as organized as ASP design

ASP (Pro)

-Better outdoor fan square.It is much better planned than HOK
-you can increase the capacity
-better interiour (perfect stadium and fan atmosphere)

ASP (Contra)

-the design is more classic except the roof
-bad outside design
-bad materials no glass
-the roof is not as perfect and light as the roof of HOK.

I think also Galatasaray´s new stadium will host about 35.000-40.000 fans in average per year.Maybe higher.I don´t understand because Istanbul has 15 million inhabitants.And the Galatasaray football club has over 25 million fans world wide.Normally such a club deserves a stadium of minimum 80.000 fan capacity.Even higher.I would like a stadium with 90.000-100.000 fan capacity for Galatasaray.Even Barcelona has a stadium with 97.000 fan capacity.Barcelona has about 2 million inhabitants.

Therefore i was for the asp project.
Build this 52.500 stadium. Maybe 50 years later you can add a 3rd tier like Real, Barca or San Siro

why it is impossible to increase the capacity of HOK.Because the construction is so built that it is impossible to increase it.You must destroy the whole stadion then.Why isnt there a third design project which connect the advantages of HOK and ASP

Because HOK has got a oval last tier
Actually it was planned to use only the asp for the bid
But it became to expensive, so TOKi decided that every firm can make his own project

bad throwback for the new GS stadium
TOKI canceled the bid for the old stadium area/project and with that the new stadium
TOKi did not liked the offer of the 5 firms

Was there also an issue to do with 'competition' from the opposing contractors? I read that there was a 'lack of interest'...personally I think it's just any excuse not to go along with it - I don't trust TOKI - they don't have their 'heart' in the idea.

TOKI will get the usespermission for the area -> guarantee, security for the firm -> more firms will bid -> better offer to the TOKI -> more money

Eren Talu –Alke won the “Seyrantepe tender”

Eren Talu, who submitted the highest bid, won the “Seyrantepe tender” which includes the construction of a sports complex with 52.000 spectator capacity on Seyrantepe premises, in return for building Urban Social Infrastructure Areas on 34.640,43 sq meters of land on which Ali Sami Yen Stadium is located.
After the bid envelopes that were submitted on August 27 were opened, Eren Talu who offered to pay the highest share to TOKİ (Housing Development Administration of Turkey) with 234 million 567 thousand and 890 new Turkish Liras (YTL) on the second session held on August 31, had envisaged the total income to be obtained as 777 million 777 thousand and 777 new Turkish Liras (YTL).

In the evaluation he made about the results, Eren Talu pointed out that they had come to the end of a very long and difficult road, but this was the beginning of a new and more important process. Talu expressed that in order to increase the income TOKİ will obtain, they had made negotiations after the last bids were submitted, while taking into consideration the benefits of both TOKİ, Galatasaray, themselves and “public interest”. Eren Talu, who reminded that Galatasaray Sports Club President Özhan Canaydın had also been in a positive effort throughout every stage of the process, noted that as a graduate from Galatasaray High School and a member of Galatasaray Club, he wanted the club to benefit from this transaction.

Seyrantepe will be completed within 720 days
There is a period of 720 days for the construction of the stadium that will be built on Seyrantepe premises and will be handed over to Galatasaray Sports Club by Youth and Sports Directorate for 49 years. 120 days before this period expires, construction of the new project on Ali Sami Yen Stadium (Mecidiyeköy) site can be started. Talu stated,” I gave a promise to Özhan Canaydın, stadium will be completed in time for the 2009-2010 season.”

According to the tender result, contract between TOKİ and Eren Talu is expected to be signed in 15 days.

Did anyone notice that the primary trusses of the roof are located above the roof surface on the exterior image and below the surface on the interior image? Is it a mistake in the rendering or any changes in the concept?

Yeah, the interior pic is the older one with the old roof design
