#39 is really odd! I've never seen such a sign before.

I hate the Danish design for exit numbers. Took me forever to figure out the first time around that they were actually exit numbers and not new roads...that's what they look like.

Nope it is at 140. Bridge across the motorvej.

Maybe it is because the restarea has that name??

The exit nummers north of Aalborg are a bit weird cause of the bifurcation of the motorway into the E39, which has the exitnumber 2 til 10 and the E45, which has the exitnumbers 12 til 19.

Ah, that makes a lot of sense, thanks. But what of exit numbers 1 and 11?

Isn't the first bridge across a part of the Kattegatt the Vejlefjordbroen?

Those Danish motorway signs look amazingly close to the normal signage on their USA counterparts.

It looks like there´s going to be a major acceptence from polititions in DK around roadpriceing, (from 2010) which was totally unexpected in the last decades.
We are going to see an austrian, hungarian, etc. kind with "vignette" (e-pay).on motor/expressways and later in big cities too.
.....of course DK with all those taxes, it is one of the last areas without taxes in Denmark!!!

I meant that right leaning govs tend to not want to raise taxes that much, but then again what the Americans call "left" is almost right wing extremism in Scandinavia. Well anyway, if they're going to make me pay for driving in Denmark I hope they at least stop just patching up the motorway lanes.

I´ve just heard in the news(6 minutes ago) that the motorway through Silkeborg is going to be partially "covered" and finished around 2016.
6 billions DKK (7,5-€)

6 billion DKK is like 900 million euro's, right? Quite expensive for a small town like Silkeborg.

Motorvej 15 is east and west of Silkeborg, but has a gap in and near Silkeborg.

Yep, it's called "Herningmotorvejen" because it goes from Herning to Århus (with Silkeborg right between them). They have been discussing this stretch for some 20 years or so, so it's great that there's finally an agreement. The first parts (near Herning and Århus) was opened in 2002 and 2003, another part will open in 2012, and the part in Silkeborg will finally be ready in 2016.

Can Silkeborg be seen as the Danish Bad Oeynhausen?

Nah not really. The Primærrute 15 is not very important for through traffic. I passed by Herning in May, there was virtually no traffic on that new motorvej to Vejle.

What is the storey on Bad Oeynhausen?

"Herningmotorvejen" in indded very much a regional/local motorway, mostly serving trafic between Herning/Silkeborg/Århus.

BTW Chris, more of less no one is using the term "Primærrute" here. If it's not the motorway name it's just "Rute #".

Bad Oeynhausen is a small city that interrupts the A30 (also: E30), the route from the Netherlands/Osnabrück to Hannover/Berlin. Traffic is often jammed there and is seen as the last inconvenient piece of road between West and Eastern Europe in some extend. When the E30 will be a motorway in Poland within like 5 - 10 years, it would be the last non-motorway between Amsterdam and the Russian border. However, they've started with the works on a Bad Oeynhausen bypass, but it would last several years before that motorway will be ready.

Back to the Herningmotorvejen; any chance it will be extended to the west coast of Jylland?
