Rute 21, Tuse - Vig

Another major project is nearing completion. The new 2+1 expressway from Tuse to Vig on Sjælland will open to traffic on 29 November 2013. The new road is 20 kilometers long (likely the longest 2+1 road in Denmark?)

PR-15 Funder Ådal Bridge

Nice aerial photo by Vejdirektoratet of the Funder Ådal Bridge between Silkeborg and Herning. It opened a year ago.

E45 Vejle

The six lanes on E45 near Vejle were inaugurated yesterday. The project is completed 2 years ahead of schedule due to efficient planning and contracting.

That is some long exit ramps, it looks like the motorway has 4-5 lanes in each direction.

It appears they have built a long auxiliary lane between the two interchanges. A smart solution, so local traffic that drives just between the two interchanges doesn't have to merge with through traffic.

PR-21 Holbæk - Vig

A new express road (2+1) opened to traffic today. It's a new alignment of primary route 21 (primærrute 21) from Holbæk to Vig. It is 20 kilometers long, making it one of Denmark's longest "motortrafikvejer" and also one of the first longer 2+1 roads.

Nice. Would love to see some ground pics and compare it to Swedish 2+1 roads.

I don't like this type of solutions. Either build a proper motorway, or leave it the way it is.

It's a dead-end road (to a ferry). It will never gain a lot of traffic, so a 2+1 solution is fine for the foreseeable future. If only the speed limit would be a bit higher (100 km/h is more suitable for 2+1).

2+1 is great on that road, I have driven it many times, it ends at the Mols-linen inter-Danish "short-cut ferry's".

The main problem have been the uneven traffic volume, when a ferry arrives tons of cars hit the road in a certain order at one time, many faster drivers do crazy maneuvers to pass slower cars/trucks on this 1+1 route before the freeway, this problem goes both ways as some stress drive like hell to reach the ferry's at a specific time.
2+1 with barrier will not only protect incoming traffic from the craze's dangerous maneuvers but also give everybody the chance to pass slower vehicles.

Yes, as ChrisZwolle says, the 100 km/h should do the trick and I think it would be quiet enough for some time. 90 is "too slow". When it comes to expressways in DK, 90 IT IS!
The problem is with the "old" expressway from Vig, that there are some traffic lights.

To add to Chris' comments, the AADT of the new 2+1 is only expected to be between 11.000-15.000, with a very low truck share (only around 5 %): The very low truck share is caused by the fact that the ferry from Odden to Aarhus/Ebeltoft does not carry large trucks. This level of traffic does not imply a full motorway according to Vejdirektoratet ordinary standards (unless wanted for political reasons).

All major bridges in Denmark are closed due to high winds resulting from windstorm Bodil. Nearly all trains are canceled as well. Interisland transportation is now virtually impossible.

New Minister of Transport

Social Democrat (A) spokesman Magnus Heunicke from Næstved is the new Minister of Transport, after the current Minister of Transport Pia Olsen Dyhr from the Socialist People's Party (SF).

Magnus Heunicke is working on getting a motorway between Næstved and Rønnede.
