Changed attitude towards motorways with new minister

In his first interview after taking office this Monday, the new Social Democratic Minister of Transport presents a very different attitude towards new motorway projects, than than the old Minister from the Green SF party.

http://www.b.dk/nationalt/ny-trafikm...lere-motorveje

The old SF minister was clearly negative towards new Motorway projects, but the new Minister is quoted for saying that he will definetely work for more motorways, and that new motorways are essential for growth.

What about a bridge between those two

It's 12.800 meters between Langeland and Lolland. The biggest obstacle for such a project would be the low volumes of traffic. I doubt if it would be feasible as a toll road.

The feasibility studies concluded that no major upgrade of the Rute 9 Svendborg - Spodsbjerg and Rute 9 Tårs - Maribo was feasible (negative return if I remember correctly), and no not even locals have proposed a fixed link between Tårs and Spodsbjerg. I doubt that anything will happen with route 9.

Here is the execution schedule for the bridge works at Køge Bugt Motorvejen

I have translated the major works

Tune Landevej/Mosede Landevej:

Bridge is replaced from april 2013 to september 2014
Road is closed from June to August 2014.

Karlslunde Mosevej:

Bridge is replaced and the exit ramps to the two resting areas at Karlslunde is reconstructed from April 2014 to mid 2014.

Taastrupvej:

The bridge is replaced from September 2013 to November 2014

Solrød Byvej:

The bridge is replaced from April 2014 to mid 2015.
The traffic will be maintained during construction.

Roskildevej:

The bridge is replaced and the exit ramps reconstructed from 2014 to 2016
The traffic will be maintained during construction.

Egedesvej:

New exit ramps will be constructed with both north and southbound ramps.
The road is closed from the start of 2014 to May 2015

Lyngvej:

The bridge is being replaced from May 2015 to November 2016.
Traffic will be maintained during construction.

It doesn´t mention that the two ramps on the west side of the motorway (From and to the south/Westbound lanes will be relocated because the Copenhagen Ringsted line will run straight through the current roundabout.

http://vejdirektoratet.dk/DA/vejproj...%B8ge-Bugt.pdf

Notice that the new Egedesvej exit (most likely called 32B) will substitute for the lyngvej exit (32) during its rebuild.

What´s not shown on the map is the new road leading from behind STC-Køge and over to Egedesvej so trucks to the transport center can use Egedesvej instead.

The new roads around the two new exits.

THe new exit ramps are marked with green on the right side of the picture, just a few 100 metres into the bend.

speed limits

http://jyllands-posten.dk/indland/tr...kre-landeveje/

Trials with higher speed limits on rural roads have been held since 2011. On circa 100 kilometers of rural roads, the speed limit has been raised from 80 to 90 km/h to study changes in traffic behavior and safety.

The higher speed limits actually improved traffic safety. The V85 (the speed which 85% of the motorists do not exceed) actually dropped by 1 km/h. The study shows there is less excessive speeding (>100 km/h) and less overtaking. The speedy drivers slowed down a bit because slow drivers sped up, resulting in more uniform traffic speeds.

Similar to what happened when they raised the speed limit on motorways from 110 to 130 kph.

Its good for the safety of the cyclist, especially at a motorway exit as here.

Even in the Netherlands it's quite uncommon. Many bicycle paths cross on- and offramps of motorways, sometimes even without traffic signals. It's good to see this solution in Denmark, we need this in the Netherlands as well.

The differences between an industrialized country and a conuntry in process of industrialization are astronomical, and not only talking about infrastructure and roads.

In the busiest day of 2013, 1.563 cars (including tourists) used the existing ferry connection between Langeland and Lolland.

The two existing toll bridges (Storebælt and Øresund) had ADTs of 30.000 and 18.500 respectively.

Some cost estimates have been released for possible fixed links between western and eastern Denmark.

A third bridge across Lillebælt would cost 5.5 billion DKK / € 740 million if it were to be a road link. A combined road/rail link would cost 13.3 billion DKK / € 1.8 billion.

A new link between Bogense and Juelsminde (a crossing of 16 km) would cost 24.9 billion DKK / 3.3 billion if it were to be a road link. A combined road/rail link would cost 40.2 billion DKK / € 5.4 billion.

A Kattegat Fixed Link, as a combined road/rail link would cost 132 billion DKK / € 17.7 billion. The toll is estimated at 480 DKK / € 65 for a passenger car. It would run across the island of Samsø, with two 19 km bridges or tunnels.

Ballerup interchange

The new connector ramp at the Ballerup interchange in suburban Copenhagen will open to traffic on 5 April 2014. It carries traffic from København to Ishøj (east to south).
