If you wondered why there was 2 bridge at the Middelfart junction 58B there is a good reason.

The bridge closest to the Lillebælt bridge was demolished almost 2 weeks ago.

Yes. I think it's part of the Fehmarn Belt agreement. It's currently awaiting political decision and funding.

You can read more about it here.

Major mega breaking news

The bridge the carries Egebækvej over the Helsingør motorway near Vedbæk has partly collapsed onto the motorway.

I'm on my phone at the moment so you will have to do without a link but try these websites.

Reminds me of the similar and fatal accident in Trondheim (Norway) not so long ago.
Is it really that clever to build these bridges as the traffic runs under them? (Even if the accidents are rare).

By the way - In June it was approved, and funds were appropriated - in a political agreement in Parliament, that the Kalundborg motorway will be extended with another 5 km http://www.vejdirektoratet.dk/DA/vej...ndstilling.pdf

That is the 1+1 section Chris mentioned, that will be replaced with a new motorway section within the next 5 years. EIA for the remaining section to Kalundborg has been approved, but funds have not been allocated.

E20 Middelfart - Nørre Aaby

The widening of E20 across western Fyn has been completed. 10 kilometers of the motorway has been widened to six lanes from Middelfart to Nørre Aaby.

Not surprised, car traffic on the Great Belt bridge exceeded 1m units in a month for the first time ever this year, in August.

They did a great job on that project. I hope they'll continue it to Odense soon.

Yes they finished long before the deadline so a good and fast job.

The first 10 kilometers (out of 30) of the Silkeborg Motorway will also open before time.

It is the eastern part of the project between Hårip and Låsby that will open this December where else the motorway is planned to be done in 2016, this particular section opens 1 year ahead of time.

What is the status with the tunnel to Germany? Has it been approved through all instances?

Not correct. As can be seen in the link that Sponge Bob attached 1 m units in a month was exceeded first time in August 2006. August 2014 was the first mont numbers exceeded 1,1 m units in a month.

But what is interesting is that after a few years (since 2007) where traffic on the Great Belt Bridge has more or less stagnated around 29000-30000 a day (average), the traffic has started growing again. So far this year the traffic acros the Great Belt has increased by 4,4 pct. This is the same pattern seen on the Danish Motorway system as a whole, where traffic for the first 6 months has increased by 5-6 Pct. (6,8 Pct in 1st Quarter and 5,0 Pct. in 2nd Quarter)
