No one knows. It's just a proposal (let's call it "idea").

The expanded Helsingørmotorvejen (E47/E55) between Gl Holte and Hørsholm S opened today.

The 4 km of motorway has been expanded from 2 to 3 lanes in each direction.

New Traffic Record on Great Belt Bridge/Tunnel

The traffic across the Great Belt Fixed Link (bridge/tunnel) set a new record in July. A total of 1.232.571 vehicles crossed the 17 km Bridge/tunnel link in July, which is the highest number reached in one month. The last record was from August 2015. The number reached is an average of 39.760 vehicles per day. July set another record as Saturday the 30th set a new 24 hrs. record of 48.926 vehicles. The following day - the 31th - reached 48.832 which is the second highest number reached for one day.

The number for July is up 6,6 % from July 2015.

This rise follow the trend in the recent months of 2016 (increase from same month in 2015):
Jan.:+2,7 %
Feb.: + 8,3 %
March: + 4,9 %
April: + 2,2 %
May: + 5,4 %
June: + 5,9 %
July: + 6,6 %

The traffic development on The Great Belt Link, with its central location in the Danish network, is usually a very good guideline for the overall development on the central motorway network.

Holstebro Motorway

Judging by the aerial photos from May 2016 the project is running ahead of schedule. Perhaps it will open even earlier than May 2018, a lot of bridgework is already advanced.

Yesterday I took some pictures of the constructions on Køge Bugt Motorvejen around Køge.

First off is Lyngvej at exit 32, they are preparing the opening of the new bridge that opens Wednesday next week.

They are constructing the sound barriers between exit 32 and 31B.

Closer to 31A they have started on the median.

Back at exit 32 they are preparing for the final version of the exit ramps.

Now the ramps is diverted left of the railway bridge but on Monday morning they will go under the bridge.

The first pictures are taken out of the side window so that explains the unusual angle.

At least the first 8 or 10 pictures are from the southern section Snejbjerg-Herning North which officially is scheduled to open in the spring of 2017. It is the northern section from Herning North to Holstebro North which officially has been scheduled to open in "Late 2018" which apparently now is scheduled to open i May 2018.

E20 Køge Bugt Motorway

Some photos of the expanded segment of E20 / E47 'Køge Bugt Motorway'. It looks very nice. Notice the outbound traffic jam, I took the photos during the evening rush hour.

The traffic jams usually occur when the 4 lanes turns into 3 just north of exit 31A.

Question:Why don't Scandinavian countries number their motorway network and use European numbers instead???

Motorways don't have a separate numbering system up here. Thus, they are given the appropriate national or regional number, and since E numbers are part of our regular numbering systems, not extra, many Scandinavian motorways get E numbers.

Finland (a Nordic, but not Scandinavian country, of course...) uses a different system, with E numbers in addition to national numbers. They do not use motorway numbers either, though.

Denmark has an administrative motorway numbering system. It is not signed, nor referred to in the media or press releases, but they are posted at reflector poles. They are numbered M3 - M90 and a couple of 3-digit numbers. For example E20 Esbjerg - Kolding is numbered M52.

I Made a little trip to Vig today and I had noticed that the new stretch(Expressway) from Holbæk to Vig turned into a 100 Km/h limit expressway. Normally, an expressway in DK is on 90.

The old Lyngvej bridge at exit 32 on the Køge Bugt motorway was demolished this weekend and the western ramps has been taken in use I have tried to make some pictures of it.

E55

Do you think they should decommission E55 in Denmark? It has almost no value, nearly the entire route runs concurrent with E47, except for the non-motorway segment to Gedser. On many signs E55 is omitted anyway.

We was in Fredericia on Sunday to watch HB Køge playing away and on the way home my brother forgot to turn of at the Vemmedrup exit so the last 2-3 kilometers or so took over 30 minutes.

I think the city council in Guldborgsund will challenge such decision as they will see it as a devaluation of Gedser and the socalled outskirts of Denmark. Bla Bla Bla.

Still, the point of the route is not at the multiplex with E47 but its route across the Europe.

Perhaps in some day, Sweden will dump its sentimental reasons to keep E4, and will implement the original AGR1975 numbering scheme. That would divert the northern end of the E55 from Denmark to Sassnitz-Trelleborg-Helsingborg-Stockholm-Haparanda-Tornio(FI).
