Wow that's actually a parking garage that appears to contribute to the street.

Though that section of Denny isn't exactly a walker's paradise... Still, yeah, that's pretty for a parking garage.

Don't really mind. As long as they're still moving. Am curious to see how the cladding looks all finished up now that they've started on that.

I'm with you on that. I kinda like the marroon, but at certain angles it looks like cheap panelling. I'll wait for it to be finished.

That Shell station next to the Hyatt collects some loud and unsavory characters late at night.

Talking about taking one's time...The Alex on 1st Avenue is being very dragged out. I can understand they're in no hurry but if I were the banker with a loan on the project I'd push the developer/builder to complete the exterior to minimize weather damage issues. The scaffold is still on the 1st Avenue side but I think the north side scaffold was taken down a while ago - they're so close to being done with the 1st Ave exterior!

Alex has been taking an ETERNITY. Last time I paid attention, they still had signage about completing in late 2008. You're right about the scaffolding.

It's pissing me off. I like the building, but hate walking through the tunnel on First.

Nice work, as always Vashon. I liked this apartment, very Euro

As for the rest of those modern low/midrises, they look pretty grim on a winter day devoid of life. Maybe they'll be more pleasing with people about, and some leaves.

Great shots. The Amazon campus buildings are really a snorefest (not that we didnt know that already). 505 First Ave turned out quite nice - I like how it integrates to the existing neighborhood.

I agree Craz. The building is near-perfect! This was a real surprise:

http://www.vintageseattle.org/2008/0...building-pt-1/

Seems the buuilding was just about a tear-down and had devolved to a most ordinary structure, and they put it back the way it was, only better. I hope they got some sort of award for the project.

I hope they got an award for that too. I think many beautiful historic buildings in Seattle area should be restored from damages from 2001 earthquake, fires, and 50's to 70's renovations to get the original looks back.

Wow, the Furuya building is impressive. If only they could make new buildings from scratch like that.
