Nice, Brooks Sports is moving their headquarters to Stone34 from Bothell. Seems very appropriate for a sports company to be on a major bike trail. Now if only REI headquarters moved next door...I've heard it's a great place to work but I could never stand the commute to Kent.

I've heard the same thing from a friend who used to work there. Good company but hell to get to.

Expo - 100 Republican
This courtyard staircase looks really awkward to me, just from a visual design POV. It really draws my eye up to look at what looks to me looks like an emergency/side/garage exit. I know it isn't but it just looks really out of place and it most certainly isn't a dramatic or grand entrance or exit. image hosted on flickr

I think that's great. An architect with a sense of humor. Next I want to see a grand lobby with all of the design elements aiming at a restroom door.

Have the retail slots been filled at the Expo (100 Republican)? If so, by what?

Another lovely Seattle hole-in-the-ground. Whatta monster. (258 apartments/ten floors, 281 underground parking stalls)

I love the 101 Taylor project. Big infusion in my neighborhood, tying in the north side of Denny, more people near the Seattle Center, and so on. It's going to be nicer in 2016 of course, when the current Aurora will be crossable.
509 First Ave W just started. It's four stories with 40 units and 20 parking spaces, right across from Safeway. Standard 60x120' Seattle lot. http://www.seattle.gov/dpd/AppDocs/G...endaID3675.pdf |

Hotel proposed near Northgate
Seattle developer Gramor Development Washington has filed preliminary paperwork with Seattle city planners for a six-story hotel near Northgate. The 174-room project would be built on the site of a former Marie Callender’s restaurant in the 9500 block of First Avenue Northeast. The city’s advisory Northeast Design Review Board is tentatively scheduled to consider the project Jan. 28. http://seattletimes.com/html/busines...ehotelxml.html |

Lol, actually that's about half a block from the light rail station, even more perfect! Hopefully it won't be a typical suburban freeway-oriented hotel though...

It's about 600' from 1st & 100th, so about two typical blocks to that. Then another block of walking and you get to the current bus mall.
The former restaurant is on 37,000 sf, well under an acre. A suburban format would take about three times that. |

Is that the one where the guy thinks land use permits are all that's needed for construction?

Haha he also thinks that the architect constructs the building. What a goof.
