Weekend Trip to Iowa City
Iowa City, IA USA
2006 population estimate 62,649.
Iowa City is home to the University of Iowa. The campus has a mixture of traditional and modern buildings, as does the town. Here are some photos from my recent trip.
fire escape on one of the many midrise apartments...I noticed numerous residential buildings w/ ground level retail.
not the biggest, but certainly one of the most attractive public libraries I've ever seen.
a new retail/hotel/residential structure highlights downtown.
a good section of downtown is dedicated to the pedestrian mall. it's a hotspot for students and residents of neighboring towns...here are some shots.
Iowa City was the formal state capital of Iowa. Here are some shots of the historic capitol building.
as I said before, the campus is an eclectic mix of old and new. here are some buildings that caught my eye.

I didn't know what to expect from this small Iowa town, but the trip was well worth it. Plenty to see here. Has anybody else been to this town?
