this is only a prediction, it will be not as forcasted as usual, could be sooner or later. also the source (CIA world fact book or wikipedia make different figures, as per wikipedia VN has already same GDP like the PH).

especially the FDI is since years seveal times higher then all neightbouring countries, despite the disbursing is slow it will have a hughe impact to the future GDP.

Vietnam could move out of low-income bracket
Vietnam can be removed from the list of low income countries in case its economy grows 6.7 percent this year, slightly lower than the targeted 7 percent.

The country has posted a gross domestic product (GDP) growth of 6.52 percent for the first nine months of this year.

The agriculture-forestry-fisheries combine grew 3.57 percent in the nine-month period; industry and construction grew 7.09 percent, and the service sector, 7.23 percent.

To reach the GDP growth target of 7 percent for the whole year, the fourth quarter of the year has to record a growth of about 8.4 percent.

However, amid double-digit inflation, Vietnam has had to lower its growth target for 2008, after recording 8.5 percent growth in 2007, with the government shifting focus from high growth to containing inflation in order to ensure social stability and security.

It is noteworthy that the growth is showing an increasing trend with a third quarter GDP of 6.56 percent against 5.8 percent in the previous quarter.

But it is difficult to reach the annual growth target in the current situation partly because companies are preparing to pay back their bank loans.

I expect the country’s economy will grow 7.2 percent in the last three months for 6.7 percent growth rate for the whole year.

With the population expected to increase by 1.23 percent and the dong exchange rate expected to remain at VND16,500 per dollar, the per capita GDP will increase to around US$1,000 this year, from last year’s $835.

The most important implication of this development is that Vietnam will not be listed as a low-income country.

Why do you want to be in power while you can do little meaningful things to your country, your people ?

oh wait, did I say I wanted to be in power? haha I apologize for your misunderstanding of my post. I don't know enough to change a country's economy so obviously I am in no position to take up the job. However, I am sure there are plenty of those more well "educated" than myself and hmm I don't know, the bunch of baboons that are running our lovely country to the ground?

Not to sound too cocky but I mean I think I could have came up with better ideas than those baboons who decided to close up our country from the rest of world back in 75. Think of it this way, if you have a fish tank and you stop adding in food and cleaning out the crap, eventually those fishes are going to eat their own crap and a bunch of them will die. After a long while, you finally decided to clean it up and add food. However, it's not that easy because the dirt has dig deep into the foundation, the eating crap cycle had mutated the population, ruining the very fabric of the little fish community.

Isn't this a great metaphor for the ruined societies of Vietnam, how people think it's OKAY to be corrupt, how it is OKAY to lie and bride every time someone gets in trouble. How it is OKAY to do whatever ones want if one have the power to do so. The very foundation, that made Vietnamese what they are, is forever tainted. The fiber to our society has weaken. We are no longer Vietnamese because we are now the very animal we've evolved away from.

We are the backwash in the drinking water of the world.
