I understand what you mean. It is sometimes unfortunate that forumers would just settle with what they hear, see and read, with out a hard copy to proved it. And it is not that easy to establish credibility about what is transpiring or developing in a city/municipality. However, when someone post development project (drawing board, or ongoing) it is up to us forumer to gauge its credibility, rather than dismissive and critical.

One big salute to my elementary classmate and friend Vladimer Maninang. You died in Basilan for the Philippines greater glory; a hero not only for Santiaguenos but for the entire Filipino citizens. You might have died young but your memories will grow old with us...

Thanks for sharing your pix. Ilagan is certainly at the cusp of economic development. Look like its bid for cityhood is higly likely that it will go through without a hitch.

This project is really commendable, mas umaayos ang zoning.

Ilagan town officials eye approval of cityhood bid
by Merlito G. Edale, Jr.

ILAGAN, Isabela, October 14 (PIA) -- The local government officials of this capital town of Isabela are hoping that congress will soon approve the cityhood bid of Ilagan after forwarding it to Congress through first district congressman Rodolfo Albano, Jr.

Antonio Montereal, Isabela information officer, said the proposal is on its second reading of the local government committee of the House of Representatives and expected to be passed for the next plenary session.

Local officials, led by mayor Jose Marie L. Diaz, followed-up the proposal at the House of Representatives last week and were informed by congressman Rodolfo Albano, Jr. that the cityhood bid of Ilagan will soon be passed as requirements of becoming a city have already been met.

As the proposal, when approved, faces a reduction of P10 million from the Internal Revenue Allotment (IRA) next year due to the reduction of the income requirement to P100 million, the municipality may still cover the deficit when the central terminal constructed by the local government opens.

Ilagan opted for cityhood in the 1990’s but failed due to objections of residents who voted “NO” in a referendum.

The present leadership revived the option and filed the proposal in congress armed with the necessary requirements.
