Its neither Spanish or Italian, but Holland Village is popular with Caucasian expatriates. More pics of Holland Village here: http://www.skyscrapercity.com/showthread.php?t=190247 But I think Buona Vista is a Spanish name? It existed when Singapore was still a British colony. |

If you trust Wiki,
Buona Vista was so named because of the good view it offers — buona vista means "good sight" in Italian. North Buona Vista Road was officially named in 1972 Holland Village was named after Holland Road which in turn was named after Hugh Holland in 1907. Hugh Holland was an early resident in Singapore, he was an architect and an amateur actor. The roads Holland Avenue, Holland Close and Holland Drive were officially named after the principal road in 1972. Holland Road is known as hue hng au in Hokkien, meaning "behind the flower garden". The "flower garden" refers to the Botanic Gardens. think it should be quite reliable... Nice pictures of Terminal 3 but a little too repetitive in my opinion. You should take pictures of the other terminals, especially T1 whose architecture is fast disappearing to give way for refurbishment. |
