Tram 17 cancelled because of the 'Interconnected tram network project of Buda'.
This line will be replaced by lines 19+41+61. These lines will be longered from 2015 to Bécsi út (street), final stop of line 17 to reach tram line 1+1A
Tram 17 runned from Bécsi út to Margit híd H;
Trams 19+41 runned from South-Buda to Batthyányi tér M+H. This project began on April 14, 2014 with tram 17's track renovating.
Here's how:

What line will go to 61's current terminus in the north west?

Why do this now? Wouldn't had been better to wait until Szentendre HÉV is converted to Metro 5, and the HÉV tracks between Bathyány tér and Margit híd budai hídfő HÉV could be reused as a tram line?

Will the tracks between Széll Kálmán tér and Margit Körút be able to cope with line 4, 6 and 61 together?

What about traffic jams north from Margit Körút?

The map posted by neverdie explained a lot quite well. I just wish to add a few things.

The proposed Metro 5 or North-South Regional Rapid Railway will not be completed in the near future. Construction of the southern section of it (connecting H6 and H7 and reaching Kálvin tér and Astoria) will surely not start before 2020. If everything goes well then it will be operational around 2027. But as for the northern section:

You should also note that H5 goes under the ground in the section between the two stops you've mentioned so it would be a bit complicated (though not impossible) to integrate those tracks into the tram network.

Actually I've been wondering about it a lot myself. That section will be interesting during rush hours that's for sure.

I'd guess that they won't sprinkle it at all.
I like the new station roofs.
