FORT WORTH | Omni Hotel & Condos | 547ft | 34 fl | U/C

Omni Hotels is building a new hotel & condo tower in downtown Fort Worth across the street from the recently remade Fort Worth Convention Center. The 34 story building will feature 604 hotel rooms and 86 condos. At the reported 547' 4" height, it will be the second-tallest building in Fort Worth, passing 1984's D. R. Horton Tower by 4".

The building's architects are HOK of Dallas and Gideon Toal of Fort Worth. It will feature a spa, Bob's Steakhouse, Starbucks, wine bar, sports bar, and hotel and private resident terraces at various levels.

Here are a few exterior renderings of the tower from various angles:

Just to be different, it's a nighttime update.

It looks good, and should definitely improve on Fort Worth's current skyline!

Totally. Fort Worth has one of the most blocky skylines in the U.S. Not to mention some of the dullest designs to go along with it.

Fort Worth's current strength is in its 20-story and under vintage buildings and infill buildings (along with its street-level), not its modernist towers. In the former regard, it is fantastic.

looks like a nice project, although i was hoping it would be taller and more stunning so that it could compete with dallas

But its still looks great and will improve its skyline, just not 'drastically' like it would have liked

Frankly, I couldn't care less about "competing with Dallas." I care about what's good for Fort Worth. Skyscraper height and skylines aren't all that important to me (I know, an odd thing to say on SkyscraperCity). This is good for our city, which is my #1 priority.

Fort Worth and Dallas are two very different cities, and I figure they always will be. Personally, I usually don't judge either against the other.

Great building!

I agree with Fort Worthology.

Fort Worth's skyline is different from Dallas' skyline.

Latest shot - with most of the steel framing on the lower levels done, they're really moving on the tower portions and some facade materials are going up now as well.

Latest pics - the Omni is really starting to move now.

View looking south on Houston Street:

The quasi-related new city parking garage (which will be un-garagey and feature ground-level retail) is starting to rise:

Prep work for the Convention Center side's facade is underway as the rest of the building rises. The corner there will be glass clad, as will the curved steel beams of the ballroom:

The ballroom frame and part of the hotel tower:

The first parts of the glass curtain wall are now going up on the Houston Street side:

The glass has already given us a cool new reflection view we've never seen before - the Convention Center's corner tower on Houston Street reflected in the glass:

Closer view and detail of the glass:

View of the Throckmorton Street side. On the left, the first part of the hotel's facade is going up, along with some glass. If you look at the rendering:
image hosted on flickr

...you can see how the glass condo tower is partially surrounded by hotel towers and rises from them.

Hotel facade work:

Here we see the hotel glass going up, and the facade. This portion of the facade is concrete panels with limestone trim, as seen on the lower level there:

Closeup of limestone trim:

Hotel glass:

A significant milestone has been reached at the Omni - the hotel portion is topping out. They are working on the final level of the hotel (you can see from the photos that the floor-to-ceiling height is greater on this floor than the other hotel floors). Once this is complete, the condo portion of the tower will rise from the rest to the final height of 34 stories.

In another note, they are now installing glass on the condo tower portion of the building.
