FORT WORTH | City Place (former Tandy Center) | Redevelopment

The former Tandy Center in downtown Fort Worth, formerly twin office towers that were home to Radio Shack as well as a large mall, has been vacant for some time following the construction of Radio Shack's huge new riverfront headquarters a block to the north. The complex has been purchased, and is being redeveloped.

The north tower has been renamed Two City Place, and has received a fresh exterior design. The interior has been gutted and refitted with brand-new technology and design, and the building has been reopened as Class A office space with ground floor retail. Here's a shot of Two City Place's new look:

The old mall between the towers is being partially demolished and redeveloped. An entire section of the mall is being removed to allow 2nd Street to pass through to Taylor, breaking up the former superblock. A large section is being demolished as well for a parking structure with ground level retail that will also provide a base for a future 20-story condo tower, and the last remaining part of the mall is being redeveloped as proper street-facing retail and will house the condo pool and terrace:

Work on the south tower is not yet underway on the exterior, but has been renamed One City Place and is being redeveloped as condos with ground level retail. Below is the building (on the right) as it is now (both towers used to look like this):

When complete, One City Place will look like this:
