There is not much of a difference.. aside.. they will redesign it anway. number 2 is the current one though.

BTW, the Meydan City will be connected to the Business Bay via this canal. You can see it on one of the pictures....

actually meydan is quite far away, so it will not be this canal.. but it might be another creek extension, indeed.

Nah, those are canals for the Madinat Al Arab and they have been u/c since months ago and we have seen them on aerials from Flo and Imre months ago.

there's nothing released yet to suggest that the 'mini canal' is not a part of arabian canal and even if it wasn't it's relevant because the two are very similar in concept (besides the scale) and will part of the same project in the bigger picture.

Still this might not even connected to the actual Arabian Canal.

They will focus on the Dubai Waterfront enabling works, which include the Madinat Al Arab canals first. I'd also say this has actually nothing to do with the AC.

Does anyone know whether there will be any changes in level and locks on the canal? These would create barriers to travel and would be very significant in determining the value of land next to the canal. If the canal stayed at sea level would that mean no need to line the bottom to prevent leaks? Not sure that tides alone would be able to flush this length and prevent stagnation.
