I really hope these can get off the ground! On paper is nice but real life is much better!

Yer I hope they aren't serious about those towers, they look very dodgy.

A lot of these towers that I've seen posted on this thread seem to rely on heavily unrealistic and extravagant renderings to make them look 'futuristic'.

For instance this picture below, at first glance you may think "whoa, they look pretty cool, stylish and futuristic", but really the lighting and overall look of the building simulated there is totally unrealistic, the sky looks fake as hell, and the towers would most likely look like pretty regular skyscrapers in real life:

The recent proposed Eco-City in Hong Kong offers some really futuristic skyscrapers!

Same goes with the year old Chongqing Eco-city proposal known as Magic Mountains (Chongqing Green Central Business District)!

A less futurustic building, recently proposed in Stavanger, Norway!

Well, the Eco City would probably annihilate anything Hongkong earns recognition for. Please build it

La Defence has been very wise in it's skyscraper development to this point and each tower looks neat and well proportioned, but this one looks the very essance of a 'wanna-be' tower, trying too hard to look quirky and interesting and failing miserably. It just comes off looking bulky and misproportioned, the curve of the tower looks dodgy and the top looks cheap and not well thought out. Don't do it Paris!!

But, they redeem themselves with the other two, Tours PB22 (wierd name) and Tour Generali, both very respectable looking skyscrapers, I especially like the look of Tour PB22's shape, a complete contrast to Tour Phare as this one's curves look elegant and shapely, the facade looks quite unique, and the way each floor has a balcony is a nice touch.

Paris will built it, that's sure and you won't change it. Its construction begin in 2009 and the tower will be built in 2012. I think you don't like it because it's too much futurist for you but I can tell to you that nearly all poeple in the "Forum Grattes-Ciels Francophone" like it and can't wait 2012 to see it.
