Not awesome... Not awesome at all if you ask me...

It sucks but I can't say that I am surprised. At least the main plans are still in place and hopefull we won't have to worry about AIA or the Patel's jumping ship. Hopefully the finance markets will turn around by the end of 09.

I like the idea as well. Better than past proposals for it.

I thought they were storing records there or something. Did not think it was entirely unused.

If they're running the A/C system 24/7, one would hope they would use the space for something!

I like the idea, but 100+ rooms seems overly optimistic.

Just floating a trial balloon to get the expense removed from the budget. If it can be pulled off, fine. But where would people park? Pick up/drop off? Though the ceremonial courtroom would make a nice meeting space.

It's 120,000 square feet. Doesn't sound super optimistic. Average room size for a hotel is what, 350 square feet?

True. But considering the layout of the building(s) and the fact that the ground floor is effectively a basement, I think that it is a bit of a stretch.

Even if there was a reasonable way to put a ramp in the building to get cars down there, the slab probably isn't engineered for that type of load.

There is no real basement. There is an elevated 1st floor - hence the stairs. The basement is the floor below that but actually is street level. additionally, the top floor was an afterthought - as was the east side of the building.

I was describing the building because a lot of people don't actually know the layout and the papers often describe it in a very confused way.
