take a look at all those gigantic buildings in the pic. Their minimal pay can't possible pay for all the work they've done.

Same size as the one linked to earlier, just less jpg compression.

(It is however only around 1/15th the number of pixels of the full version though)
This isn't displaying for me. Firefox says the image contains errors. Internet Explorer just shows a red X.

Hi all.

The latest press release said Dec 2 '09 but I think that is the new date for the soft opening of the hotel and its entrance.

I think the completion of the whole of the works will be first quarter '10.

When you think about a project of this scale and all of the electrical, fire sprinklers, elevators, sheetrock, plumbing, HVAC, finish work, painting, light fixtures, phone/data, baseboard, carpeting and all of the high tech systems, etc etc... it really can boggle the mind and give a big appreciation for the army of laborers, technicians and specialty trades that are swarming all over that place...even if from the outside it seems like little has changed from day to day at times. This makes it only more frustrating that there is such a mania against interior photography
Hi Land.

Yes the planning alone before any dirt (sand) is even moved is staggering. The things to be done list (for lack of a better name) from April '07 is over 14,000 lines long. Imagine the staffing schedule for over 12,000 workers, the prints and shop drawings must be a stack well over 10 feet high, the financial and cash flow schedule is enormous, the construction method statement is hundreds of pages of PDF's.

I find project management for building construction very interesting and the planning is a big part of that.

Works for me, it is a huge file so maybe wait for it to load, or try right clicking and 'Save As' onto your hard-drive, that might work.

Are we any closer to finding out what the clear/see through floors are for?

It's too big. You'll need to download it.

Just thank your lucky stars I didn't link to the 2 gigabyte version.

The reduction in the number of children per family is usually a result of climbing out of poverty and a growing middle class, not a cause.

When you are really poor, having one more mouth to feed means little as the kid will not be needing tutors for college prep, because the kid won't be going to college. Also the child usually starts to help the family in pulling in income at a very young age.

Thanks for the recent updates.

Imre: I guess you have in mind to publish your series as some book?

Or have you ever considered this at least?

You should sell your collection to Discovery, Imre. You probably have enough pictures to make a full time-lapse video from just about any angle.

What I know, is that I am not sick but very much of a outspoken person. The reason why there are more so many youth in Arab world, is because Arabs tend to make so many childrens either, but being also rich and having many other resources such as Oil etc that makes it easy for their parents to maintain them and let them go to the school, educate and for many foreign companies to come over and set up business in Arab countries, make it also possible for these people to find jobs or start building huge structures as such that they themselves having a lot of money, won't even think of doing! Why should they? they got the money, they move out to Europe or USA/Canada and let the poor people, like these people from India or Pakistan, Sri Lanka, Bangladesh or poor Chinees do the job. But what happens if it comes to a hold and these people have nothing to do? and what if the richness of Arab world is faded away and the 80% of the youth out there has nothing to do or pay for?

Anyways, I just say what I want to say and don't care about other people's opinion's like you.

Let's face it, there are too many of all those people and that 80% anyway
