cleaning every day but they can do nothing with the sand in Dubai.

The area still a huge construction site + sand coming from the Business Bay also, after 10-15 years would be better.

If Burj Dubai is a success- more ultratall buildings will be built in the near future so it won't be the tallest in 10-15 years,
If it's a failure- it might be the tallest in the world for many more years.
No one has ever tried to build such a high structure. Therefore- some problems might occur.

Hi Dark.

This structure will open the floodgates for many more taller structures to come. I'm not sure what you mean by a failure but if you mean occupancy I can't see a problem. If it's not fully occupied right at the grand opening it surely will be sometime. If you mean monetarily, the structure itself may not make money but the area surrounding it will - at least that's the plan. If you mean some sort of structural failure ... well lets not even go there as I'm sure it's engineered to stand for a very long time.
That being said I think this will be the WTS for a decade or so if the recession ends reasonably soon.

Hi Desert.

A reply to your post on the "other" forum ...

Your hobby is just as important as the construction discussions - perhaps even more so as a picture is worth a thousand words. My hat's off to you (and others) for your efforts in posting pics for us all around the world to see as if we too are there.

I agree with PG on the last shot - great angle. We can see in the bottom of the shot the landscaping features in the relatively small space between the annex and the mall. Being the ground is fairly uneven there is a few retaining walls there making different shapes for trees, grass, etc.
