just googled

What is Lorem Ipsum?

Lorem Ipsum is simply dummy text of the printing and typesetting industry. Lorem Ipsum has been the industry's standard dummy text ever since the 1500s, when an unknown printer took a galley of type and scrambled it to make a type specimen book. It has survived not only five centuries, but also the leap into electronic typesetting, remaining essentially unchanged. It was popularised in the 1960s with the release of Letraset sheets containing Lorem Ipsum passages, and more recently with desktop publishing software like Aldus PageMaker including versions of Lorem Ipsum.

The standard Lorem Ipsum passage, used since the 1500s

Section 1.10.32 of "de Finibus Bonorum et Malorum", written by Cicero in 45 BC

Hey guys, I know this is a tad off-topic but I was wondering if anyone happened to have saved those Youtube videos from awhile ago where we got to see the maintenence worker film from the top of Burj Dubai?

I had a gut feeling they'd be pulled down by Emaar but I had no idea how to save videos at that time. Sure enough now, you can't even view the two any more because they are either private or completely removed from Youtube. It would be awesome to have a copy of those for history sake

Oh and to make this post more on topic, I did speak with Emaar a day ago and they simply mentioned by the end of the year for the tower opening. They did not say any date in particular, though they were seeming to indicate December sometime.

Hi all.

Nice update Imre - you too PG.

Yes the cleaned areas look great. As whoami posted it may be a coating that they had left on for protection and have now removed.

The landscaping shots really show they have alot of workers on it. I thought the area in the shots had most of the features completed - obviously not.
Anyway here is the area from above from 09 05 25 - I can't recall the photogs name - sorry.
I have some newer but they don't show the layout of the area as good.
They have been busy in the last 4 months.

Yes today is the last soft opening date before the current 09 12 02. Lets not forget there have been a few opening dates before that. I don't recall all of them but I think early 2008 was the first one.
The schedule from 07 02 26 had the completion date at 08 12 30. Then on the same schedule a revised completion date of 09 08 16.
The schedule from sometime in 2008 (can't see the date at the top) shows completion at 09 10 31.
Then there is the "to be done" list from April 07 that shows completion at 10 02 14. I believe this date was planned from sometime well before April 07.

So the current opening date is 09 12 02. I think this is the soft opening for the hotel as the word is completion by that date is unreasonable. Will we get another press release from Emaar stating the actual (full) opening date ? Only time will tell.

Hi Real.

Nor did Emaar elaborate on whether the opening is the full opening ? I imagine not as that seems to be their MO.

I save vids of the BD too ... - hard to believe isn't it .
I use free youtube downloader - works great.
Here is all 3 vids from the pinnacle. One is a short version of another. The third includes some vid from the spire further down.

pinnacle.zip (20 MB)

Actually you don't need any youtube downloaders. Newer versions of internet download manager already have this option.
