Wow thanks so much for those Imre! It's very appreciated simply because of the views. I don't know if I'd upload them again simply because of issues with Emaar and the original video-taker's footage but simply to view them privately was all I wished. Thanks again! Kimo, thanks as well. Your quality is quite sharp.

Oh and that metro / train looks awesome! It's an automated system right? It looks like you or other passengers were at the very front of the train and could take photos from the front window too - or was it the back?

Oh and to mention about opening... Nope. I had simply asked about the public opening of the tower (observation deck) and was told end of the year. Maybe they still do plan to launch the opening by 12-2-09 though that seems like they'll really need to rush to get things done if that's the case.

If I happen to hear anything more I'll let you guys know.

Do they have any plans to keep the waters in the bay? It could very well evaporate in the summer...

Great pics btw, that's not the issue off course.

Status of cladding and Hotel entrance ??

Does anyone have a view of the hotel entrance showing its progress, and is there an up-to-date status of the cladding, especially the area where the main crane was ?

Some old pictures have been shown again recently, and with other things happening, we may be losing track of the cladding progress.

As to the hotel maybe opening on December 2, conventional wisdom says there are still almost three months. Not really, the staff need to be able to work in the building a little bit before then to get trained and become familiar with the layout etc. To do this, most construction needs to be finished - including the entrance and some spaces down below so that equipment can be delivered, installed, tested and commissioned ready for service.

Those recent pictures of the landscaping workers shows the work proceeding, but the camera angle is too low to be able to see what's happening around the entrance.

Any news ? Thank you

Architectural Lighting

I think what we are seeing in these photos for the first time that I can remember is some of the exterior architectural lighting turned on...banks of up lights on the tier setbacks which are focused on the exterior above. Very cool. Quite a while ago we saw photos of some lighting tests and there was buzz on the board about all of the high tech 'gee wiz' programmable fixtures that will kick in upon completion. Yet what is still evident in these night shots is how many floors are still completely dark event though there are about 10-12 floors lit up down below. Hopefully we will see more night time exterior lighting bells and whistles very soon.

This is also what I thought last night, first time for me to see these lightings (apart from the impressive test last year). Every setback from 1/3 height was lit up it seemed.
