You have to consider the height in my opinion. The Burj Dubai's architectual theme relies on someone looking up and being jaw droped by the various sections. What i'm saying is, the SHAPE of the BD is a design picked to complement the extreme height of the Burj.

One problem with your analogy is that BD exists whereas BAA doesn't. Don't think you can pass a fair judgement!

It would have avoid the sandy dirty cesspool effect we have seen these past few months...assuming that the mombo filtration and water circulation system we have been hearing about actually works.

Maybe the business deal with their fountain vendor was such that they have to provide water by a certain date for contractual reasons.
Maybe the filled the first part of the lake to improve the living conditions of the apartments of Old Town. To stop the dust from the construction side of burj dubai ( its now in the lake )and the heat a little bit. Or to complete a contract just in time...Or to create another sight for the mall visitors before BD is complete...

Just have a look at the post from joed (August 2009):
The photos you quoted helped a lot, @Axel... thanks for that. The lake, when will be all complete, will be around Burj Dubai according those photos right? Burj Dubai will be a island somehow...

What signs will be on these entrances ?

There are 3, especially the one for the hotel and the office entrance - likely the one on the residence side will be more restrained, if anything at all other than the building address.

|
Also, the " Burj | Dubai " signs that were put up long ago, at the property edges, had the image of the 700m tower, with a stubby appearance at the top. Will these be changed to show the longer look of the spire in the 818m design that was actually built. It looks a lot better than the original.

That was one big reason for increasing the height in the first place - If this is part of the logo for the tower used on stationery, advertising, etc etc, let's hope it shows the taller design.

Anyone know anything ??

Thank you

Where can we see more info on this ? Is this an actual water transportation service ?

8 AM to 12 AM - is this noon or midnight ?? - which would mean they are running in the dark for several hours each day. Also, they would have to stay away from the fountain when it's performing in the evenings.

The dancing fountain is quite a spectacle. I don't see how or why you'd want a water transportation system to interfere with the fountain show.

Well I don't think that the fountain will be running all day, that would be too expensive. Even for them maybe. But then again why only working hours for abras from 08-12h. Unless this is midnight, so then the abras would be running all day and the fountain only on the show hours.

You should give Emaar a call, I don't think they've considered that.

It's simple guys 08:00 to 24:00 / 00:00, ie. 8am morning to Midnight or 12am at night. Nice and lengthy hours for day or night tours around the lake. They'll probably either postpone the travel of the abras during a fountain show or simply keep as far a distance as reasonable while a show is in progress.
