Hi all.

In the old 705m plan, the OB deck was on 142, but smaller, and offices were on 112 up to about 135. Everything up to Level 108 was like it is today.

The Club was above the OB, along with private space and the Communication levels.

I remember an old plan used to be seen on Wikipedia - it showed 2 lifts rising up from 142 serving the club and private spaces.

Questions - what was on 141 - the lower deck in that plan ?
how did they get to the offices on 112 to 135 ?

Something to dig up if it's still available

Thank you
Hi Library.

Looks like 141 is MEP from the 705 elevation drawing I have. 139 was to be a double height level (skip 140). It must be the same one you are referring to - you have it pegged right.

Here it is if you want it. Clik for full size.

Hi Imre.

Yet another great update Imre. Yes - happy to add them to the pile. Reminds me of days of old when there were hundreds of pics almost daily to download - most from you. I've not as much time as before so it's working good.

Hi Ro bi.

Nice shots inside the hotel entrance. It's coming along. I don't mind the steel sculpture - I think as Gerald said there will be more to it. The entrance does look fairly big from those shots.

Hi PG.

You are getting to be the article poster(girl - ) here. The press seem to all have the same source - they all post the same info at the same time - and incorrectly for the most part. I see Dec. is still the opening date and not the soft opening date. I also noticed they are not calling it the "full" opening either though. The thing is most of the general public don't even know that there is soft and full openings - to them the opening is the opening and they will think it is fully open. I guess this is good for Emaar as they will not have to give yet another "opening is delayed" press release. I still think they should come clean - sigh .....

Hi coin.

No news feed.
I live on the other side of the globe from Dubai.

I watch a dozen or so projects from around the globe but this is far and away my favorite. I enjoy the technical stuff and absorb all I can.

Here is something I made up a while ago.

Gotta say when I saw that first shot of those 8 window cleaners hangin' there on ropes it instantly reminded me of the SWAT guys rapeling down the front of Chicago City Hall in the Blues Brothers movie!

The crane dismantling sequence is so cool.

It's only half the height on the Burj so doesn't impact much there. However, it is far far sexier!

The exterior cladding for the world’s tallest tower, the Burj Dubai, has been completed by Arabian Aluminium Company and Far East Aluminium, 18 months after the vast project began.

The final panel – numbered 24,348 and weighing 750 kg –was placed at a height of over 662 metres, setting a record for the highest installation of aluminium and glass façade.

In total, there are 24,348 cladding panels covering a total curtain wall area of 132,190m² and using 103,000m² of glass – enough to cover 14 football pitches.

The 15,500m² of embossed stainless steel is the equivalent of 34 basketball courts, while the total length of gaskets – 2,050,000 linear metres – would reach from Dubai to Damascus if laid end-to-end.

The total weight of aluminium used on the Burj Dubai is approximately the same as five A380 aircrafts and the total length of stainless steel bull nose fins is 293 times the height of the Eiffel Tower.

hehehe...final panel...
1 panel is 750 kg
there are 24.348 panels

It means 24.348 X 750 kg = 18.261 tons = 5 Airbus 380
18 Kilo Tons just for panels.

That's simply huge.

Cheers!

Not every panel weights the same. Could be even more or less, but its a lot tho.
