If you work/live in the feta cheese tower, I imagine the holes cast annoying shadows. Otherwise, yes, it's an interesting structure.

Hi Gerald.

Yes - good to see they will keep 09 12 02 as the soft opening date. I agree there will probably be much hoopla - as there should be. It will be great to see part of this thing open for business - there should be lots of interior pics. I still would like to see Emaar release a press release stating the entire structure is not completed but I highly doubt it - no matter, we will know.

The soft opening should include ;
- the Armani hotel - to level 8 and 38, 39
- the Armani residences - levels 9 to 16
- the hotel residences - levels 19 to 37
- the observation level - 124
- podiums A, B, and C fully landscaped
- the hotel entrance and lobby
- the observation elevator lobby
- the residential entrance and lobby - ?
- the pool annex - ?
- the office annex - ?
- some or all of the residential - levels 44 to 72 - ?

The luxury residential and boutique offices above that will most likely not be open yet so neither the office entrance and lobby. Hopefully we will get some insider shots or info after 09 12 02 so that we will be able to follow the progress of the higher levels and perhaps determine when they are open. If nothing else we should get an idea from what levels are lit up at nights.

Not that it will tell us what levels they are working on but if we get some shots and/or info of thousands of the blue man group entering or leaving the structure it would be a good indicator of work still being done on the higher levels.
Also if some of our Dubai photogs play tourist and attempt to enter areas they are not really supposed to could go a long way to telling us what is open and what is not (and just play dumb if caught) - nudge nudge .......

Nice shot Bikes. A few weeks old but a great addition to the collection.

I wonder if the small crane (R3) is being set up on level 99 today ? It took a couple of days to set up on 159 but the first support was easy to spot.

Edit.
Hi Coin. The final CTBUH measurement could be as high as 824.6 m. if they include the Concourse level and the beacons on top - both of which are possibilities. That does not change the 818.0 as per the plans however and I think they followed them.

Alabbar expected to be opened «Burj Dubai», the highest building in the world, in the National Day of the State in December, pointing to the existence of more than 5000 workers inside the tower and out of put the final touches before the opening. He said that «the opening of the tower delayed six months from the date that was decided by the result of difficulties in the forefront the need to raise the concrete to the high altitude, did not know of any building in the world».

Its a typical location, rather lazy of me. Was going to Waitrose by foot, they have closed that walk through next to Souq Al Bahar and the Address, but made a better path down by the address / mall.

Little or no security around now, much work has been done. I'm sure you could walk right up to it now.

Let's hope for some more clear nights this week - it was a spur of the moment decision to go out this evening. I was hoping for a better sunset, but the above will have to do for now.

I also booked a room at The Address for December 2nd. If it's clear (and it should be by then), I'm going to go for "the big one"
