I had not seen this preview yet. The announcer says "how hard is it to find the world's tallest building?" Then one of the Globetrotters says "we thought that we may have to jump off of it." Too funny. I can't wait to see this episode! Just wish that the program was filmed in high definition.

the guy out on crane boom would obvioulsy be harnessed. your not allowed to do such jobs these days without safety harness.its building law. i reckon he pulled the short straw though. lol
how good is the mighty burj looking. i didnt realise the plantroom levels have extruded ribbing. i thought it was flush. looks better.
just an amazing structure.

Hi all.

Hi Cul.

Yes they have to be harnessed. Thing is they are harnessed to the crane's boom - the boom being disconnected. I mean if the thing fell with no one on it it could be just as deadly but they are brave to be out there IMO.
Yes the rails do look good around the MEP areas. The BMU's ride on 2 of them when they leave their resting places - a unique solution indeed.

Hi 234.

Great shots yet again. The removal of R1 is the second last step in the crane disassembly proceedure. Only a couple more days and it will be completed - I will post my 46 step cranes timetable after that.
Some great shots of podium zone C also. This zone which faces North and is the office lobby entrance doesn't get the coverage as much as the other 2. It is coming along nicely and is definately as far along as the other 2 podiums.
I am amazed at all of the concrete features of the landscaping on all 3 podiums as I have posted before. There is small concrete structures (buildings - ?) all over. It would be nice to see an up to date plan or drawing so the uses for all these structures could be known.

I wasn't aware there would be access for vehicles down in the front of podium zone C. I thought the only access was the spiral feature up on top closer to the entrance. Thinking about it now there would have to be more than one access for the amount of traffic going under each podium. I find it interesting there is no office parking under the podium that houses the office entrance.

Parking spaces :
Level B2 - hotel 509 - Res 511 - office 98
Level B1 - hotel 181 - Res 603 - office 336

Here is the parking layouts for both basement levels. Clik for full size - very large.

Kind of ancient, but some may find it interesting. I, for one, have not seen such old aerials of the site before.

Sorry for the crappy quality - ripped from youtube.

thanks , I was very lucky today

I met the most idiot security in the history from the Emaar, he said no photos of the Burj Dubai when I asked why he just told me because its an Emaar property .

Later he said even more rubbish , I need a NOC (no objection certificate) from the Emaar after I can take pics , I wanted to call the police but he just disappeared..

Hi Fury,

It would be so incredibly awesome to see the layouts in enough detail to make out the text! Possible?

I'm incredibly fascinated by the design/layout of the parking (above and below ground) and the landscaping around the building. If I could see a detailed plan of intended traffic flow and planned signage it would give me one hell of a major cyber boner!

Thanks!

Steve
