So the tops of the cranes are above the magic 646.38 metres? Really impressive. I saw this mast when I was a little kid while it was standing in 1990 and it was an incredible height.

Thanks PwnedByASkyscraper,
Hey, I used your pic to make this on cafepress.com

Are you OK with it ?

I didn't order yet:
Maybe a nice idea may be to set a producer account for Imre on cafepress, so as the small profits from our t-shirts go to support him.

Anyone wanting some ? I'd wear this. A nice worldwide private message .

Vincent.

Hey guys, I really appreciate Imre's work and I just love his pictures but please don't turn this thread into some Imre's Fanclub thread...

No need to worry. Steel is one of the strongest materials on earth, it's even way stronger than concrete. Normal steel can handle a load of 235 N/mm2 while normal concrete (C28/35) can handle only 21 N/mm2. Maybe they'll use extra strong steel for the spire which can take loads of 435 N/mm2.
small note: 10N is about 1kg.

There's a public holiday next week and the goverment offices will be closed for 3 (working) days, I don't know how many days off will get the BD construction sites though.

The first steel beams used, seams to have been supplied by Nippon Steel, the rest is from Arcelor/Mittal.

Looks like quite massive beams, maybe 800 / 900 mm. thick. And you don't know what the thickness of the steel is.. Maybe 40, 50 or 60 mm. or something :O

It almost looks like they are putting up some cladding above the fourth mechanicals. Can anyone who saw it in person comment?

I think some people are becoming a bit obsessed with Imre?
Also that steel went up seriously fast! Thinking about it though this also happened on the SWFC.
