Does anyone have a clue what the service charges will be?

I have been hearing rumors of 120 AED per sqft !!!! - that is ridiculous and i hope not the case.. i have called Emaar but they said its under review... any inside information?

address / lake hotel is at 61 aed sqft if that gives any of you an indication..

thanks

The Burj looks unreal in some of these photographs. It even looks like the initial CGI renders in some of them, although that may be due to some post-processing.

It's just so ridiculously huge I don't think we can truly grasp its size in a photograph.

Hi all.

I still am not sure how the lightning protection works up there. Previous discussions and video clips on other websites talk about the whole building exterior being a giant faraday cage, etc. but in the few interior shots we have seen of the ladder and climb to the very top there was no evidence of a big grounding wire. So would that mean that the whole top of the spire..that entire pipe gets juiced when lightning hits then it is taken to ground through an insulated connection down below? But that just doesn't make sense...to much steel against steel. Maybe a separate topic but not one that I think has been discussed or answered.
Hi Land.

The clamp isn't for the beacons. They are supported on 2 inch pipe and have flanges that allow for mantainance. The clamp looks to me to be smaller than that judging by the bolts. Like inch and a half outer pipe and one inch inner. Your idea of it being a lightning rod is good but I agree with the uninsulated notion. I can't see the entire pinnacle being energized by lightning strikes. There has to be some cables or something to channel that energy down to the ground. I don't know alot about it but it would be interesting to know.

Well we are just over a month away from the "opening". They are obviously still working 24 hours a day on the hotel, Armani residence, and residence levels as the lights are on in the night shots. It seems very unlikely the luxury residence and office levels would not also be worked on 24 hours a day. The lack of lights on at night on those upper levels surely means they will not be ready for Dec. As the date gets closer and there doesn't seem to be more lights on in the upper levels it just cements what some of us have figured for a while now - Dec. 02 '09 is a soft opening.

Also as we get closer to the date and there is no Emaar press release it becomes obvious that the general public will (be led astray yet again and) believe it will be a full opening. I guess that is no big deal but all the secrecy and misleading press releases irks me to no end and without all the info we have we would be as oblivious as everyone else.

Anyway ... the BD is looking good without cranes. I see there is still some cladding to be done and some glazing of a few panels that are already installed. Some of the recent aerials show the landscaping most likely will be ready for the soft opening - it is really going to add to the beauty (and complexity) of this thing.

The dedicated Metro Station will open too, but we have to see if they will shade the path leading to the tower.

Does the travelator tunnel not just link the Mall and The Metro?

From this panorama by @234sale, we able to see the -amazing- interior of Burj Dubai. I say amazing, because even from that distance those apartments looks great
@234sale: that photo is in upper or low floors?
